Quick question about AP credits.

I'm fixing to AP out of Chemistry, English Lit., English Rhetoric, Calculus BC, US History, US Government. That's 30 hours already.

I'm doing Business Honors at McCombs. So do my AP's make it perfectly acceptable to finish the program in 3 years?

I’m assuming those aren’t the only AP classes you are using to calculate the 30 hours (as displayed 6 classes at 3ish hours each is about 18).

I’d highly suggest seeing if BHP has a sample degree plan (if you haven’t already) and even look at what AP scores on the exams constitutes for what class (e.g. AP English III: Lang & Comp with a score of 4/5 equals one three hour credit class which is RHE 306).

Also, I highly doubt you would be able to finish it in 3 years (unless you do summer sessions) as there are bound to be some lower-division business courses you must take before taking upper-division courses.

i don’t know why you would want to do BHP in 3 years. business is a field where you need the most practical experience possible imho, and doing it in 4 years would allow you to pad your resume even more.

Actually those six classes do add up to 30 hours. Chem, Calc, US History, and US Government are full year classes so thats 24 hours. English Lit is 3 hours and then Eng. Rhetoric is another 3 hours. So that’s basically a full year.

And I understand that business is about practical experience, but the classes I’m going to AP out of aren’t even business related so I would still be experiencing all the business classes taught on campus

I’m not sure why anyone would want to graduate college faster than 4 yrs. The idea in itself tells me that you don’t have your priorities straight.

If you look under the BHP degree plan it notes what lower-division classes you must obtain.

Judging by the BHP degree plan - your credits will fulfill 24 credit hours (keep in mind the AP Government test, no matter how long your class was in high school, only equals to GOVT 310L and you must take UT’s Government test - which is ridiculously easy, in order to receive credit for it).

If you believe you can handle BHP in three years then by all means strive for it, there’s no doubt it will be difficult. Personally, I wouldn’t want to stress so much about getting out early (unless for extreme financial reasons). With all your credits out of the way - maybe you could try to minor in something else in Business or something completely different?

So, you want get out of Austin ASAP to go into banking or consulting or another major grind job?

Good call.
