Ok so I'm fairly new to UT, I'm going to be a freshmen next year. I'm currently in McCombs, but I really want to get into BHP sophomore year.
So far, for first semester, I'm signing up for
UGS 303
M408L
ECO 304K
AST 301
-13 Credit hours.
Is that rigorous enough?
I plan to be very involved with ECs.
Any comments will be greatly appreciated.

13 credit hours is the minimum to be a full time student at UT. I see you are in econ and integral calculus, that is good. astronomy and UGS 303 I would say seem pretty unrelated to business and although they might be tough (especially astronomy), I think that they’re too random and it doesn’t show a focus on business (I think a focus would help).

Right now, I definitely do not think your planned courseload is rigorous enough (because of quantity and course selection), no matter how involved you plan to be in ECs (make sure you have good leadership ECs). How about you take more business related classes and follow this information in choosing your classes (taken from the BHP Website):

"Please note that:

Students are encouraged (but not required) to complete MIS 301 (non-honors) during their freshman year. In addition to MIS 301, applicants may complete one of the core courses listed below in a regular (non-honors) section. Applicants who complete more than one of the courses listed below are not eligible for admission to the Business Honors Program. No student admitted to BHP will be permitted to receive credit for any of these courses if they are taken during a summer session after the freshman year.

ACC 311, ACC 312, STA 309, STA 371,
BA 324, MAN 336, O M 335, FIN 357,
MKT 337, LEB 323, MAN 374

To be considered for admission, students must have completed in the fall and spring semesters of the freshman year at least 24 semester hours of college level coursework. Coursework must include Economics 304K and 304L, Mathematics 408K or 408C, and Mathematics 408L or 408D.

If you feel you have an extenuating circumstance which has precluded you from taking the course sequences listed above, please make an appointment with the BHP admissions director to discuss your situation.

Students are advised to enroll in GOV, HIS, and ECO classes at the University of Texas at Austin during their freshman year to show a challenging course load."

Make sure you complete the indicator courses, choose classes related to business (from the list above), and try and take maybe 16 hours or something instead of the minimum that you currently plan on taking.

Here is the direct link to the BHP passage I was quoting:

BHP admissions stats for the sophomore year are also given on the website, it is a very useful website.

Good luck! :D
