Bhp?

I got a letter of deferral from BHP which thanked me for applying under the priority deadline, but was deferring me to the regular deadline. The thing is, I applied after the priority deadline (my app was finished October 19th, to be exact), so I'm not sure why I'm being sent this letter.

Does anyone know why I received this or how this affects my chances of getting accepted?

would you mind telling me your stats?

You might have started before or near the priority deadline so I’m guessing they’re just making sure you know that you didn’t make the priority deadline and that your application is being evaluated with the second/“regular” batch.

Nothing to worry about unless it actually says “declined” as mine did.
I don’t know whether this would put your mind at ease or worry you more, but my letter stated that the stats of accepted students are usually top 2% with SAT scores of 1450’s+ out of 1600. I was 4.8% with 1400 xD

Regardless though, best of luck to you! :]
Besides there’s nothing you can change now so no point in worrying.

…

…?

I’m guessing that what vi3tshugo stated from the letter did the complete opposite of putting his mind at ease. Just like what it did to mine. >_>

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE. </3

Ahh sorryy!
Just thought everyone would like to know some of what BHP is looking for =/

And now I can’t edit it out either Dx

Haha it’s okay! You were being honest, and it was definitely helpful. Don’t be sorry. :)

The BHP considered applications under the priority if they went complete by the 21st. That’s how long it took for new SAT scores to load and the admissions office to catch up with loading paper (transcripts, resumes) that made some files (that would have gone complete on the 15th otherwise) on time.

Also, that letter stated that those numbers are averages–BHP accepts above and below 1450 on the SAT and above and below 2%. It’s a totally holistic process, and they are looking for more than just numbers–leadership is a huge factor as well.

Yeah. I’m not even close to that great and I got accepted so who knows! :)

randomhobo, mind sharing your stats?

i’m extremely disappointed with myself after my deferral with a 3.9 gpa unweighted, 1430/2150 SAT and significant ECs

Class Rank: 11/276 about top 4%
GPA: 3.77/4.0 or 5.07/7.0
In state
ACT: 32
Work experience and quite a few EC’s
Submitted UT app in August; BHP app in September; Alum Interview October 18th; Acceptance a week ago

Azndude, your deferral isn’t a rejection. It just means they want to compare you to the greater pool.

I was also deferred (1520 SAT, 3.9 GPA, and good ECs, but top 3% and my interview wasn’t great). I was a little disappointed too… But we still have a chance! Don’t give up hope Azndude!

I am assuming that those who are rejected by BHP will still be considered for regular McCombs admission. Is that Correct?

Secondly - Has UT has sent out any acceptances to out of state students - for the regular McCombs admission (non BHP)

Yes, that is correct amghspa.

I’m oos and I received my acceptance to McCombs 2 weeks ago.

Sent from my DROIDX using CC App

Does anyone know the likelihood of acceptance to BHP after deferral?

This year is the first year BHP is doing deferrals. Also, has anyone gotten an interview since being deferred? I was deferred and since then I haven’t even gotten an interview yet zzz
