Bias and bigotry in academia

"It didn’t alter as many lives as slavery. "
right it didn’t “alter” them, they just put the people in ovens and out and out killed them.

XTewodrosX, your latest post exhibits a shockingly shallow understanding of the Israeli/Palestine dillemma. Also, the purpose of the Holocaust was to kill and eliminate a people. The purpose of slavery was economic growth. In direct contrast to the Nazis, most slave owners were motivated to keep their slaves healthy and alive. To minimize the impact of the Holocaust simply because it didn’t last long is numbingly misguided.

Slavery has always existed, when people speak of slavery Africa is what first comes to mind but Slavery has existed even before the ancient civilizations I just merely meant , of course the Holocaust was horrible injustice.

And what do you mean the purpose of slavery was economic growth? Does it matter what it’s purpose was the fact remains the same that human have been ,abused traded and held as dogs under the institution of slavery. Countries have enslaved their own kind or have enslaved prisoners of war. Slavery has been the greatest social injustice, so far.

Please enlighten me on the Israeli/Palestine dilemma.

Also the Holocaust is the most recent social injustice of its caliber. So I expect most people to see all other crimes against human rights before than and even those going on at the moment picayune.

“Of its caliber” perhaps, but there are certainly more recent constestants for the honor:

[Pol Pot - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](Pol Pot - Wikipedia)
[Rwandan Genocide - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](Rwandan genocide - Wikipedia)
[Bosnian Genocide - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](Bosnian genocide - Wikipedia)

Of course there are but many are not aware of the “recent contestants” or if they are they wouldn’t say the genocide in Rwanda is comparable to the Holocaust.

Why, because the holocaust was something the world was ,in a way, a part of .The Nazi , who wanted to take over Europe were targeting this ethnic group, as well as poles and slavic. The holocaust occurred alongside one of the largest War’s in the last few centuries.

If person A wanted to take over the world and killed a specific ethnic. You would say oh my god he is horrible and that act is horrible, and I believe it.

But if

If person B was not really trying to take over the world but kills people within his neighborhood which is 1000+ miles away . Then many people would say either, “oh that’s bad” , and leave it at that or say " as long as he doesn’t come here I won’t complain ".

Sad but true.

^ “Who goes to an Ivy to major in agriculture???”

Well, everyone at the Cornell College of Agriculture for starters. And it is rather ignorant to say that there are no elite students in high school ROTC. I’m sure everyone attending a service academy would agree.

Not to change the topic of hte thread, but another unique aspect of hte Holocaust that the Nazi’s invaded foreign lands, captured Jews, and transported them to death camps. They were not killing the Jews in their Germany, but capturing them in Poland, France, the Netherlands, Italy, etc. - importing Jews for the purpose of murdering every one of them – that did not happen in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia, or Russia.

I meant to write that the Nazis were not just killing the Jews in Germany, but invading other countries too.
