bicycles

do people use them? should i get one? is it important? do people steal it? which one should i get?

Don't get a bicycle. The campus is very hilly. People don't use bicycles here. (OK some do but they're in the minority)

do people steal it?

Just like anywhere else, it will happen if you don't lock it up. However, bicycles are fading out. Many people are using a cheaper scooter or skateboard to get around. Some, even a moped.

Other uncommon types of transportation include: unicycle, tricycle, rollerblade.

I would like to ride a tricycle to class and see how people react. :D

Try to ride one of the old fashioned ones with the big wheel in front. You'd probably be mentioned here quite a bit!

I would imagine if all your classes are in south campus, a bike would be a good idea. Otherwise you can only go so far on a bike before you have to start walking hand in hand with it. Skateboard is a better alternative imo. Easier to carry when you go up a hill.

There go my dreams of riding a tandem across campus.

You are the center of attention when two guys go riding across campus on the tandem haha.

Yeah sure you can do it... you just might die from going down the hill from the dorms to the rest of campus.

My suitemate takes his bike down to campus, and just locks it up in the bike racks near Powell. He then goes to his classes, and picks up his bike at the end of the day.

Biking is feasible...sometimes. Don't try to do it during rush hour, though. And pedestrians: do not stop when you hear a bike approaching. That only creates another obstacle for the poor biker to avoid.

Scooters work well for coasting down the hill from the dorms.

any one seen those sort of skateboards divided in two? with one half under each foot?
...craziness xD

Didn't a campaigning president years ago propose for a zip-line / lift that would run on Bruinwalk? :)

that would be AWESOME!
horribly unfeasible, but hey, we can dream...
