Duh Sam, but the fact remains that Auburn over Bama was not a large upset (the contrary on paper).

Blah,

Documented? Do you actually watch games or just research articles? You went to JHU; what games and conferences are you interested?

I went to Stanford (for 5 years for grad school - not one) and am from California originally, so decisively the pac-12. I also have a sibling at UMich, so I’m well aware of the Big10 successes and struggles.

If you didn’t know Blah, Bama was up by 20+ at halftime in that game

I think barrk123 and I are pretty confused why you kept stating things that any average football fan would know. Of course it wasn’t an upset. Actually, the role had sorta resersed and Auburn was slightly favored by the time they met. Not sure what’s disputable about that and whom you are trying to explain this to.

Anyways I think Geno Smith will win the Heisman what about you guys?

Blah,

Even if I spent 5 years at Stanford, I’d still care much more about Northwestern. When it comes to FB, it’s pretty much all about where you went for undergrad.

I watched the game barrk. It was a miraculous come back by Cam. Reminiscent of Vince Young in the Rose against 'SC.

As for you sam, I think you’re the only one that’s confused. I’m explaining the fact that the season is early and that you can’t read too much into most of the close games (like Clemson over Auburn which you alluded to). Alabama and LSU are clear exceptions however given their extended history and success.

Yes, undergrad matters more for following teams. However, given that I spent more time at Stanford than JHU and the fact that JHU doesn’t have a DI football team (despite chip kelly coaching there), it’s understandable that I’d follow Stanford and the Pac-12. Additionally, I got paid to go to Stanford (so I have perhaps more allegiance than some other grad students who didn’t do their Ph.D. there and fully paid out of pocket).

It’s great that you follow Northwestern. Hopefully you continue to do so through the thick and thin.

So we all agree that Geno Smith is going to win the Heisman?

^Too early. Plus I haven’t been watching the Mountaineers.

^Definitely not barkley but maybe DAT(DeAnthony Thomas). Geno looks good but his team needs to win out unfortunately (can’t see that happening).

^not necessarily. Baylor lost like 3 games with RG3.

I think timing is everything. RGIII won because of the Oklahoma game.

^The most important thing was he amassed crazy stats with the spread offense at Baylor and it felt like he did it all even with 3 losses while Andrew Luck paled in the run-first offense with mostly shorter and less flashy throws to tight-ends. Luck’s Heisman kinda went down with Owusu.

I only wish Stanford had a chance to play Baylor last year. RGIII might not have gone as high in the draft as a result.

Stanford’s D wasn’t good enough to halt the RG3 Train

That Stanford game was so annoying. I still remember that idiotic play call.

Sam, I think Northwestern could be 7-0 before they run into Taylor Martinez and Nebraska. Penn State’s never been weaker and I don’t see South Dakota and Indiana beating NU at their home stadium.

I think Northwestern ends up 6-6 or 7-5, in either case bowl-eligible, a good year for them, but nothing to boast about in national terms, or even in Big Ten respectability.
