Big 4 intern with no full time offer

OK, so I didn't get the full time offer as an intern. I'm still interested in the rest of the big 4, but I really have no idea what to do. Should I tell the whole truth and focus on the mistake I learned from the internship, and that I will never make it again, or should I cover up the fact that I didn't receive the offer, or should I not include the big 4 internship experience on my resume? I'm more inclined to tell the truth and I know that the big 4 recruiter at my school talk to each other.

Taking it off your resume is the last thing you want to do. It is great experience that will set you apart from others. But just tell the truth and apply for other Big 4 internships. No reason not. People make mistakes. If it was a big enough mistake they would of just fired you on the spot.

Thank you youknowme123. In your opinion, how would other big 4 recruiters react when they see my internship experience on my resume?

I could only imagine they would be impressed by the experience. I doubt they would view it negatively. Different companies have different cultures. So while you may was not a fit at one fit could be a perfect fit at another firm.

If it helps, I have a relatively young uncle,28 or so, that had the same experienced. Was not hired at one big 4 and end up working for another one. He does very well now

Thanks a lot youknowme123, I will definitely keep trying. Just curious, how did your uncle deal with the question of “why XX didn’t give you full-time offer?”

I didn’t get an offer at [big4firm] because [problem]. Here is what I’ve learned and the steps I am taking to resolve [problem].

I think it shows a lot of maturity to admit you did something wrong and then following up by improving yourself.

I didn’t get an offer from one big 4 firm and I covered it up/stretched the truth to get into another. If you can think up something believable…you can pull it off. But I didn’t go through campus recruiting…I got a referral from a partner I met at an accounting event. They probably won’t grill you about it. Whether you be honest or if you get creative its up to you…just know there are a lot of kids with top grades & top interviewing/social skills that will take your place in a heartbeat.
