Big Dreams..but will I make it?

my Stats:

SAT Reasoning: CR=610 Math=680 Writing=650 . i know they're terrible =/
SAT 2s: Math I= 710 Math II=750 Bio E= 660
ACT: 28composite

gpa: my school doesn't do it out of the 4.0 scale but out of a 100 point scale my average is 95.96/100.
rank: 55/900 Top 7 percent

Courseload: AP US, AP World, AP Bio, AP Calc AB, AP Psych, AP English

ECs= my ECs I believe are the strongest portion of my application. Apart from the gajillion clubs i've joined in my school i've mostly been involved with the American Red Cross and Key Club. I was also the Chief editor of a Medical Publication in my school. I have over 100 hrs of volunteering work in the library. I have foreshadowed doctors in a hospital through an internship. I have interned at an Environmental Center (field biology). I have spent all 4 years of my hs participating in research and have spent my senior year researching with a distinguished professor at a mircrobiology lab. i play non-varisty tennis (3 years now), i was the manager of the bowling team, I am a trained dancer in Bollywood fusion (4 years). Apart from being a part of the National Honor Society (where i tutor kids) i have also been a new york science and engineering fair semifinalist and am competing again this year in the nationals.

I'm looking into the following schools as a Bio/Pre-med major

Boston University
Cornell University applying to CALS & Hum. Ec. (dream school)
Carnegie Mellon University
Johns Hopkins
UCLA
University of Rochester
NYU
Rutgers

I've received good recs and written really good essays for my poor stats =/

I'm a female and a NYS resident if that helps in any way. thanks!

It would not be a good idea to list every single one of the “bajillion” clubs you’ve joined. Just pick the ones that you had leadership positions in or that you think are unique.

If you do that, I’d say you have a decent shot at all of the schools, with Cornell and John Hopkins being mid-reaches.

thanks! anyone else please! i’ll chance back.

Boston University - match
Cornell University applying to CALS & Hum. Ec. (dream school) - reach
Carnegie Mellon University - reach, ACT and SAT Reasoning a little low
Johns Hopkins - reach
UCLA - match
University of Rochester - don’t know enough to chance, sorry!
NYU - match
Rutgers - match

Overall, you have a decent shot at the schools on your list. If there is anyway to take your SATs again I would take advantage of that. But if your recs and essays are good, like your EC’s are, you should stand a solid chance! Good Luck!

You have a great shot, it’s just those SAT keeping you down a bit. But your ECs are great and I wish i had them =P. As others said before, good colleges want to see consistent involvement in clubs (not involvement in every club per se). Good luck! Cornell is my dream school too

My comments are pretty much same as all others, your ECs are good and GPA and everything except its theh SATs…just like its haunting me too =(
