You have WAY to many colleges picked out… I hope you know you only get to go to one of them… You should only have about 6. 2 reaches, 2 matches and 2 safety’s.

IMHO, I would take Colgate, Davidson, Wake Forest, Claremont McKenna & Pitzer off. Don’t know enough about Amherst’s statistics. I would concentrate on the others on your list.

You aren’t going to get into Colgate, Wake Forest, Amherst, Hamilton, BC, UMiami, claremont Mckenna, Pitzer, Davidson. Sorry your GPA and SATs are just not good enough!

I disagree. I think that being a 1st gen URM is a pretty big hook. However, your college list is all over the place: southern preppy… east coast LACs… California… What are you specifically looking for in a school? What do you want to study? If you could be more specific, maybe we could help you put together a list with some good matches and safeties.

@17foleyb an african american girl from my school got into BC with a 1700 3.5 I’m a male and males fare better but definitely still a reach, and miami isnt too hard to get into the rest you’re probably right about though :(

@DimiDE, you list is NOT too long. You do not need to limit yourself to 6 schools, particularly if you will be depending on aid. What I suggest you do is run the Net Price Calculator at each of these schools to first find out which ones might be affordable. Then look at your statistics compared to the 50% middle range at those schools that will be affordable. You will definitely get a boost for being a URM, so if you are at the lower end don’t just rule the school out. Good luck!

Your list is definitely not too long. As long as you’re putting the work in, apply to as many as you want
You can definitely get into UMass Amherest, they’re pretty lenient on who they let in. Northeastern might be a bit of a reach, try and boost your SATs a bit if you can (especially CR).
