hey
for those who got accepted/rejected by yale, is it true that they give u a big one if you're accepted and a small one if your rejected? thnx a bunch

Yeah, that’s pretty much how it is for all colleges (at least all top colleges). But you figure out your decision online a few days before you get the actual letter in the mail, so you’ll already know what sized package you’ll receive before it arrives.

Yeah, it’s pretty big. You’ll know immediately.

Although, 9 times out of 10 you’ll know if you’re in out not before the mail arrives. Most admissions decisions are posted/sent out online.

(I say 9 times out of 10 because the Columbia decision wasn’t loading for me and the big package came from UPS(?) later that night)

Yes, but it doesn’t matter, because you’ll be able to check online long before the mail arrives.

that’s mad disappointing, i hate checking results of anything online

^well you don’t have to. i know some people that waited for the mail. they found out a day or two later.

^That would have driven me crazy if I had waited those extra couple of days.

Actually don’t ALWAYS be turned down by the small envelope: My Cornell and ND envelopes were both extremely with one page acceptance letters, followed by the big packet coming in about a month.

Yale’s acceptance letter comes in a big envelope (7" by 11" I’m guessing?).

I could wait, but god knows I won’t be able to!

I applied to 12 colleges and at least 4 (Swat, Wes, Cornell, and Fordham) came in tiny envelopes and were fairly thin. This was probably because I was told well before April 1rst though and they didn’t contain much more than, “you will be offered admission.” These 4 and the rest all sent bigger envelopes the first week of April though.

For Yale, especially if you live far from CT, I would definitely log on March 31rst to see if you’re accepted instead of waiting a few days for the mail to arrive. All of the ivies post at the same time. 5 PM I think

I agree with roneald. Some colleges will send you a small envelope just to inform you that you got in and then will send a bigger envelope later on.

Oh man. I’m so happy I’ve never been rejected from a college (yet).
I’m fine with a ****ty Florida college for now.
Good luck to the people still waiting for their Fall 2009 letters.
