Big Envelope or Small Envelope?

I am just wondering whether my regular decision letter will come in a large or a small envelope?

Also, when should I look to receive the letter? I know the official date is April 1 but I have heard of others receiving lettters already.

If it is good news, it is a large white envelope. Small envelope, not so good.

In the large envelope there is a beautifully worded letter of congratulations and acceptance, along with other materials.

Best of luck!! I am glad I applied and was accepted EA. Gave me peace of mind since December. Just got back from a 3 day visit over Spring Break. My third time there. Each time I get more questions answered. Now I am just waiting for a decision Wednesday and then will decide between ND and Pton. (or maybe Pton will make it easy and decide for me :)

^ up…when I was accepted it was a big envelope with the words Welcome Home on the pamphlet…but in general small envelopes are bad and leads to either rejection or waitlist…

Thankyou,

But when should I look to receive the envelope?

Sent from my Droid using CC App

The pamplet does indeed say “Welcome Home” on the front.

As to when you will receive it, it all depends on how long mail takes to get to you and when ND puts it in the mail.

It almost kind of spoils the surprise.

^Yeah really. I guess people who receive the small envelope can at least hope to get on the waitlist.

On another note… That would be diabolical for ND to put a rejection letter in a fat 8x11 envelope, but a nice surprise to conceal an acceptance letter in one of standard size.

That would not be nice at all

Yeah, you’re probably right. I’d be upset about the deception, but relieved to be accepted. I’m sure the relief would outweigh the sadness, however.

As you have all hinted it is just about money…if they have to send out ~10,000-12,000 rejection/waitlist letters they save a lot more money by being efficient and using a regular envelope. The ~4,000 acceptance letters need to have more information on why you should choose ND so they must be larger…

^so are acceptance letters sent out via priority mailing and rejection letters by 1st class mail?

My acceptance packet came by first class mail.

no, they all come the same way - it is just that ND sends out larger envelopes to those that got accepted because they have to send more information and stake their argument for why you should attend ND. If you got rejected or waitlist, they don’t need to send all that stuff so why was the money on sending a bigger envelope and material.

I live in SoCal, so if Notre Dame mails out on the 28th, about when should I expect to receive any mail?

on another thread under ND’s folder, a current ND student who works for the admissions office said that the letters were mailed yesterday (march 25). it sounded like a reputable source. Living in michigan, i’m hoping mine will be here monday. i’m not sure how long it takes to get to the west coast though!

I also heard they were mailed out yesterday from a fairly reputable source. Are the acceptance envelopes blue or white?

^ Mine was white.

Thank you!

Mailed out yesterday!!! Wow, i guess decision letters should be here soon

I live overseas, so does anyone know whether they send out results via email or mail?
