Applicants close to Wake may get there envelopes this weekend. This year the acceptance envelopes are not all black. This year the acceptance envelopes big, tan and have cartoon pictures of students on them. Good luck to all and go DEACS!

Ahh the anticipation, good luck to everybody!

@brantly, you are correct; I was going too fast and did not proof read.

@WFUparent do you think you could chance me? I’m super nervous for Monday/Tuesday!

@ilovelabs, first off we have to get the important things done: I have a chocolate lab and she is the best. How about you?

Ok, now we got that out of the way, I will give you my observations (patterns) on Wake’s admissions. 1. Wake likes applicants who rank high in their class. Wake notes in their report on the admitted class that 61% comes from the top 5% and 87% come from the top 10% (every year they report this). 2. Wake also likes high GPA (and that seems to dove tail with #1). 3.Wake wants to see that you are challenging yourself. Thus are you taking APs when offered vs. regular Math when AP Calc. is offered. 4. Finally, Wake wants you to want them. Wake does not want to be a safety school (you will see applicants with higher scores and GPAs get wait listed, when others with lower scores are accepted). Thus you should try to show interest in Wake. Visit Wake’s campus; interview at Wake (please note that they took 55% of the admitted class from ED or applicants that like Wake sooo much they have committed to come to Wake if accepted ED). My guess is that if you have applied to Wake you are smart enough to take my observations and make you own decision on your chances. With that said I will look at your info and try to give you my thoughts. In any event, I wish you nothing but good luck and I hope you will be able to join us in the Forest.

@WFUparent Thank you so much! No… I don’t own a lab but I want one so badly! I am counting down until the day I can own one… I have 7 years to go  I am ranked first in my class. My GPA is 3.94, obviously the highest at my school. My school is up and coming with AP classes, and we don’t have honors, and I go to a tech school… this is what I am most scared of. I have taken 2 APs, my junior year, but my senior year I had a schedule conflict which I explained in my application. However, at my school nobody can ever take more than 4 APs in total because of the way that our schedules are set up. I am earning my Medical Assistant Certification, a very demanding program, and AP was offered the same time as those classes. I have taken 3 Dual enrollment and have still taken the most challenging classes offered… I hope they understand this. I did go and visit their campus and have an interview and I think it went really well… I have been rejected at all of my reach schools, I feel like this is because of my SATs (1310) and my rigor of my schedule. I don’t think many colleges have students who are medical assistants but I explained this to my interview and the kind of courses that I take and she seemed to be impressed. My medical courses are very difficult haha!

@ilovelabs, Labs are the best dogs. They have a great demeanor. Know you will love having a lab.

Regarding Wake, I think you have a good shot. You have all the things Wake looks for in their applicants. More importantly you were able to discuss your school schedule issues. With that said, now it is up to Wake’s admissions office and how Wake wants to fill in their class of 2021. Hang in there. No matter what Wake decides you have a great resume and there are colleges out there that would die to have a student like you. I wish I could be of more help. Again I wish you all the best and I hope you can Join us in the Forest.

Does the denied letter have a window like a bill? :frowning:

@lauren887 Did you already get something in the mail?

@lauren887, is the envelope big and gold with cartoon people or a regular envelope?

@WFUparent Regular envelope. I have a picture of it from USPS account but not in my hand. I think not good news.

@lauren887 how did you find the picture?
