Okay just a quick problem that I need to solve quickly-
My freshman year of high school I played on the football team and crew (rowing) team. Because I did crew I was not allowed to do drama or be in any of the school productions, as they conflict.

Is it better for the rest of high school to do football and drama, and drop crew, so that I can be more well-rounded and have academics, a sport, and a fine art? Or should i stick with how I have it now, just football and crew?

The main issue: I like them both but my college counselor mentioned (before I said I was doing crew) that doing something like drama and football is a good contrast that colleges like to see (makes me more unique)

Do what you like. I don’t care what someone tells you is best, you should only get involved in extracurriculars out of genuine interest. It’s unlikely to make or break college admissions anyway.

My son was on a HS crew team and I was surprised how much attention he got from college crew coaches. Look at it this way, there are probably 50 high school football teams for every college football team, but only (maybe) two high school crew teams for every college crew team.
We went to some colleges that hope to get one experienced high school crew recruit each year. Most of their team are kids who never rowed before college.

Try to talk to seniors who rowed and ask them how much it helped. Do they think they would have gotten into a better school if they did drama?
