big red bucks

is it possible to only sign up for BRBs instead of a traditional meal plan? if so, how?
i've been on the cornell dining site for a long time and i still can't figure it out

no big red bucks?! trust me you'll want them...items at cornell convenience stores/eateries have a markup...

No...only graduate students can have just BRBs. Undergrads are limited to the dining hall meals + BRB options.

Only if you live off-campus.

Dining - Debit Meal Plans

yeah...but you still have the 10 dining hall meals...which I never used...which was a shame :-)

thanks for the feedback!
i guess i'll have to sign up for a meal plan

when is the deadline for meal plan?

@Tsenguun: We don't have deadline for the meal plan. In fact, you can even apply after you got there or even during the semester. :)

that's great then!

OP, youre going to want a meal plan. BRBs run out really really quickly! you think $500 is enough...it definitely isnt if that is all you are using. if you decide to go to a dining hall for a meal, you end up paying between $12-22 depending on the meal with your brbs

JESUS, that's expensive! I'll go through 10k easy..=P
Why are the meals so expensive? They better be some Fillet Mignon in there if I'm paying that much for a damn meal.

because its all you can eat...youre better off with a meal plan that comes with brbs

And there's shrimp cocktail at Sunday brunch....at least there was at Cook when I lived on campus

Are there any fast food places around the campus? Who wants to pay that much for a meal..my god. Idk if it's just me, but I could spend that money on much better things. I could get a $5 foot long and be content. But, on the other hand, I'm low maintenance and I'm easily satisfied.

@Greens: There are fast food places like Subway relatively close to campus. The list of the fast food places that I can find:

Subway

Pizza Hut

Burger King

Arby's

Taco Bell

Shortstop Deli

Quiznos

McDonald

for the exact location, you can use Google Maps, click on the find businesses tab, and type "fast food" for the "what" and "410 Thurston Ave, Ithaca, NY" for the "where".

With the exception of Subway...you need a car to get to the other places...the bus isn't too convenient.

Greens: will you be living an campus and did you sign up for a meal plan? If you did...you need to worry about paying for dining hall meals. That what the "meal swipes" are for.

look at campusfood.com for delivery options..

there is really no need to get BRB's at all.. you usually end up with extra at the end of the semester which is a waste. You can just do Cornellcard, and on campus at trillium statler, ivy room, etc and all of the dining halls/stores and it just charges to your bursar (just as if you bought brbs).

also, a lot of places in collegetown accept city bucks, which you can charge to your bursar bill (and buy food at collegetown bagels, ct pizza, chinese, stellas, mahogony grill, boatyard, etc).. A lot of kids charge these and dont tell their parents.

BRB are useful if you're living on north campus or west campus...

campusfood does have some good deals, but you have to tip! so it turns out to cost the same as cornell food...
