Just applied to Brown last night, prospective music major. I was wondering, if I were to submit a cd of me singing a few classical pieces and another one of my own compositions (to show that i am obssessed w/music lol), would this have any impact on the application of significance or is it not worth it? Thanks!

i would say yes if:
1) you have a really good voice and;
2) you plan on singing in a cappella groups (?)

probably not if its just a recording of shower-like singing lol

just my thoughts

My son submitted a CD last year of himself and got in, although not quite sure if that had a bearing. Supposedly the admissions office will send it to the correct dept for review. Matty is right though, you should be good and demonstrate an above average ability in my opinion. And definitely do consider the a capella groups around campus-my son is in one and he loves it! They take their music very seriously.

They pass that kind of material on to the music department (Choir teacher etc) and they inform admissions about your qualifications/ability. This works with painting, science research, etc.
