I am applying to a few Big Ten schools and would like to know my chances. Sure I realize that my extra cirriculars, or lack of, will hurt me, but I've worked 20 hours a week the past 3 years to help out my family.

GPA - 4.6/5 Unweighted

Class Rank - 50/300 Top 16%

ACT - 29

Courseload - Ive taken around 3 honors classes per year and am taking 3 AP classes this year.

EC - Swimming for all 4 years and working 20 hours a week

Major - Biology is what I plan to apply/applied for

Schools of Interest-

University of Illinois is my top choice, priority admissions
University of Iowa
Ohio State University
Indiana University

Thanks for any feedback

All are matches, I would say. Might I ask why you’re only focusing on Big 10 schools? Those are all big public schools with fairly expensive tuition for out of state applicants. It’s only an athletic conference, after all.

Hehe, using my newly understood lingo…

I think they’re all low matches/good possibilities of getting in

If you have more time, try and squeeze in a bit more EC because swimming alone isn’t going to cut it…

I’ve visited and have family that went to some of these schools. Plus all of the schools carry some prestige in the midwest, some more than others of course.

Personally, I thought Illinois and Ohio State were slight reaches for me. I have considered University of Michigan or Northwestern but the prices of them push me away. Thanks for the input.
