LEGENDS and LEADERS

LOOOOOOOOOOL

LEGENDS and LEADERS

LOOOOOOOOOOL

LEGENDS and LEADERS

I am feeling very good actually!!! I can never lose in this set-up!!

Because I am BOTH the legend (MSU) and the leader (tOSU)… ^o^v

My logo was better! ;)

^ Are you saying you did a better job than “Michael Bierut and Michael Gericke of the international design firm Pentagram”?!

How arrogant! ;)

I love this spin:
How the hell does the name Big Ten with the number 1 “unify 12 outstanding institutions”? What is “fun” about the new logo and has “something for everyone”?

“Past” = same old name
“New” = box around “Ten”

Ahhhh! That’s what Delany means by “something for everyone”. Haha

“LEGENDS and LEADERS”

…as opposed to losers and cheaters? :-)

As long as they make two BCS bowls and the BTN prints $$$$ for all the schools Delaney can have his grand-daughter do the logo. Compare B10 and PAC 10/12 TV and total revenues. No contest.

I agree barrons. This isn’t a jealousy thing on my part.
Hopefully, our new Pac-12 commish can get better TV revenues in an upcoming contract…granted it most certainly would have been a richer contract if his original vision materialized.

^ Looks like they got a little carried away with that “legends and leaders” theme…

Doesn’t JoePa belong in the Legends Division? :D

Since both ‘Legends’ & ‘Leaders’ are 7-letter words, we shall expect Legends to add Notre Dame and Leaders Texas to their respective Divisions in the foreseeable future!! :p

@bluebayou

He could easily have, but decided to stay-put. Therefore, Michigan had to reach out to one of the leaders from Ohio for its head coaching job. Joepa is, in my opinion, an Ivy Leaguer (Brown) in disguise.

“Michigan Athletic Director Don Canham contacted Paterno in 1969 to see if Paterno (whom Canham respected and knew personally) would accept the vacant Michigan job. Paterno turned down the offer and Michigan hired Bo Schembechler.”

I wonder when Chicago will be able to come back and and take back Stagg’s trophy?

^^ Perhaps Chicago should reconsider merge with NU as it almost did back in 1933; however under better terms this time and become the Stanford of the midwest with undergrads division in Evanston and graduates in Hyde Park as planned.

“In 1933, Hutchins proposed an unsuccessful plan to merge the University of Chicago and Northwestern University into a single university.”

Abandoning the Universities of Chicago

"It is thought that the death of Melvin A. Traylor, merger committee Chair and Scott ally, signaled lost hope for the venture. Scott eventually concluded that the plans be scrapped as it was unlikely the board would vote for the merger. Hutchins agreed, and the deal died February 25, 1934, when trustees from Northwestern and the University of Chicago voted to set aside the plans and discharge the committees.

Both presidents revealed their deep disappointment over the proposal’s failure. Hutchins called it “one of the lost opportunities of American education.”

Within weeks of the final vote, Scott wrote a letter to a board member. “The more I studied the merger, the more desirable I found it to be,” he wrote. “It is a great regret to me that conditions were such that it could not become a reality. In my judgment the merger will become a reality at some future date.”

OR you can always stop by Maroons’ Athletic Department these days to see the old Big Ten Champion and Heisman’s Trophies that are on display. The school finally decided to embrace and retrieved those “old hardwares” from the locked-up warehouse of yester years glory earlier the year, thanks in part to all the BIG TEN / CIC Expansion media buzz. Since then, Maroons had not only won the UAA football championship but also qualified for the very 1st time to the Div-III playoff.

Nice read:

Go Maroons!!

I hope Chicago returns to Division I athletics and rejoins Big 10 athletics. That would be awesome. They are already part of the Big 10 academically, but adding them athletically would be great.

There are plenty of Chicago vs Michigan football video clips on youtube:

Also, I like this video clip on CIC:

P.S. Jay Berwanger’s Heisman Trophy is currently on display in the lobby of Gerald Ratner Athletics Center on the campus of University of Chicago.

Yup, walk by that Heisman about every day . . . maybe someday we’ll see another one beside it?

I think you’d have a problem convincing some of the Chicago administration and faculty to devote needed resources to restore a Division 1 athletics program.

^^^It will never happen.
