Big Tuition Increase for Out-of-Staters entering fall 07/ spring 08

<p>Hi, I was just wondering why is there such a high increase in the flat-rate tuition at UT Austin for all incoming out-of-state/international freshman and transfer students?</p>

<p>Last year, the flat rate tuition for the college of liberal arts was just $9k + per semester for 12 + credits. This year, they will be increasing it to $12 k+ . That is a hugh $6 k + increase in tuition! How is that possible?</p>

<p>they raised it so their OOS tuition would be more on bar with other top public schools in the nation</p>

<p>They can do pretty much w/e they want. And the thing is, even if that deters OOS applicants, they have a big line of in state people that would love to go anyway.</p>
