Yep, it came today! Chalk full of great info. Everyone’s pouring over it - now all siblings want to go too!

Congrats to your son.

Does the envelope still have the spelling error ("inclosed") or are they using the new ones?

Congratulations! I want to go too, I'm want a slot in the class of 2016 (I know it's a long time; I'm in the 8th grade). Could you please give me advice?

Prolouge: Get good grades, play sports, don't get in trouble, stay in school. That's about it.

fencersmother: Did you know it was coming or was it a surprise? I'm waiting for mine... got a principal nom a few weeks ago and I'm triple qualified so it's a matter of time I guess.

COngrats to you fencersmom and son!!!! Welcome to the class of 2012!!! D still hasn't decided yet. Waiting to hear from other colleges plus Navy. Just nice to know you have one!!!

We knew the envelope was coming since he had an LOA plus the nomination from MOC. But, still, it was great to see it.

It's the old envelope with "INclosed" on it; even our mailman commented on that!

congrats!! hope to see your son there this summer :]

Congrats to your son!! The first step in hopefully a long and happy career serving his country. The adventure begins....

I recieved two nominations today. WHat all does this mean? this is all new to me. One is from my Senator and the other is from my Represnentative. I am medically disqualified but does that have any affect on recieving an appointment. I know i have to be qualified to go but i have details with it:

I have gone to four specialists, my family doctor, and a flight surgeon at my air force base. I have CT scans, have had things shoved up me in both ends, two blood drawings, and an other tests to prove that I have nothing wrong. They originally disqualified me for hematuria, blood in the urine. But after talkign with my counselor she said usually half of the incoming class has hematuria. I sent in all the letters and the test results yesterday and the ACademy DODMERB person said the flight surgeon letter will go along way. Phew. anyway.

So with my nominations and hopefully a clean bill of health from DODMERB, what can I expect the next couple monhts?

fencermother; Congrats!!!! YBIC

Pres and MOC NOM does the fact he is Blue Chipped for Water Polo mean its a matter of time for the Appointment? Anyone have expirierence with this?

Congrats fencersmom and son! Very exciting stuff, and well deserved I'm sure.

XCAG, I can't speak from personal experience (I'm not an IC myself), but it sounds to me like he's in good shape.

It's all a matter of timing. If he had the Pres nomination, then a lot depends on when he completed his application 100%. They only give out so many of those. My son has a pres nomination and got his appointment the first week of November. 1 week later the coach called him and asked him if he wanted to play for the falcons. My son had already sent back the acceptance replay for the appointment. They blue chipped him/recruited after the fact. Easy for them knowing he's already been given the appointment. When did you all get the application finished?

A recruited athlete definitely has some benefits in getting an appointment, but they still have to be able to get in. The academy sometimes makes offers to athletes the summer before their senior year. Some of the athletes haven't even done their SAT/ACT yet. The fact that you have a moc nomination means you have a very good chance of getting the appointment. They wouldn't have given their nomination if you all weren't worthy. The blue chip definitely helps. The long wait is probably in relationship to when you finished the application. Also, when did they blue chip him? Again, it's all about timing.

He got his packages done early for AFA and Navy and confirmed eligibility. he had attended Summer Seminar at USNA so he got a jump on the package. He got his Pres. Nom a few months ago but his Congressional NOM this week. They said his Blue Chip package would be reviewed in Jan and they sent him the info for the NCAA Athlete Clearing House which he completed last month.

Congratulations to your son and to you too mom. Great job..

I will be playing tennis for the air force academy and I was recruited the summer after my sophomore year. The coach pushed my application through in October and I received an LOA even before I had completed my CFA. So in my opinion, being a recruited athlete helps, but according to the tennis coach, you still need to have close to what it takes to get in. The coach can only do so much

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know when the second appointment packages are sent out and what is in them? Thanks

Chalk another one up for PA, my envelope came in today, I am definitely excited and really relieved...

PS. My envelope says "INclosed" but I was way to excited to notice it until now...

He got a call this week saying they want him to play Polo from them. He is excited. Thanks for the info.

Way to go AF16 - I think FM is also from SW PA.
