<p>S has virtually no alcohol or drug experience. I worry he will be one of those who goes overboard in the other direction once he is exposed to it on a regular basis.</p>
<p>lab317- My daughter was just like yours (I mentioned homesickness in my comment above.) She was shy and never truly connected with the kids in her high school. She has thrived and found wonderful new friends - I hope yours has the same experience. I feel it was all about picking the right fit school.</p>

<p>Long term ramifications of underage alcohol related citations, even very minor citations.</p>
<p>One of mine learned this the hard way. Spent time doing community service to satisfy requirements to have charges dropped to nolo contendere. Had to disclose the citation on several job applications (did not affect the job offer, but embarrassing). Lost an internship offer due to background check before citation could be expunged. Paid money to law firm to have the citation expunged (worth it to be sure the paperwork was handled properly). </p>
<p>I have worried about this with my other two kids ever since.</p>
