what is the biggest jump from a poor SAT score to a great one. (e.g. 1600 to a 2300)

Idk. Personally I got 1710 in 8th grade. I'm hoping I'll hit 2300 this time.

Ive seen someone on here who said she jumped from 1480 on her first try to a 2080 on her third try. The way I play it is, take the exam each time as if it were your first hit, forget about your old scores.

1880 and 2300 superscored

I went from an 1880 on the March SAT to a 2030 on the June one. I wanted to take it a third time but I worried it would be averaged rather than superscored and I was honestly just too lazy. I really wish I hadn't done the March one. I feel like finishing up my pre-calc class and getting private math tutoring helped me improve. My first math score was abysmal.

640 CR, 610 M, 690 W :: 1940 total :: fall PSAT during Junior year
740 CR, 690 M, 800 W (12 essay) :: 2230 total :: January SAT during Junior year

I was very happy with this large change (290 points!) in only a few months. I could not have made this change without the many hours I put into preparing for the SAT. I took an SAT class that helped a lot with math (it's by far my weakest subject) and just solidified the writing rules and critical reading strategies that I already knew relatively well. This was only a one-month course, however, and I think that most of my gains came from all the practice tests I did and analyzed after the class... I did about one practice test a week, made around 300 flashcards for vocab words I didn't know, and used Gruber's SAT Guide for math preparation.

All in all, I'm very happy... I'll just be even happier if I get my math score (and hopefully critical reading) up come this March 14 SAT!

I went from 1890 to 2120.

@The Government: Not to take away from your achievements or anything, but keep in mind that the PSAT is generally curved much more harshly, so there may be some slight fallacies when comparing to the SAT. It's still a very good increase though, and it's clear that you've worked hard.

Good job!

1740 and 2310 superscored... lol

Sohpomore PSAT: 177
Oct. 2008 SAT: 2120
Jan. 2009 SAT: 2220

Now I'm hoping for a 2300s this June.

PSAT Score Junior Year = 179
SAT Score 1st try - 1820
2nd- 1910
3rd - 2150 (January Senior Year)

Is this any good to get into top schools?

June 2007: 2060 (660V, 740M, 660W)
October 2007: 2350 (770V, 780M, 800W)

My score jumped 290 points between the first and second time I took the SAT. I think the first testing was just a bad day, since my october score is closer to my Junior PSAT score of 225 from Fall 2006. But it just goes to show how variable the scores can be for the SAT (no studying or test prep of any kind between the two testing dates).
