Hey! I'm gonna be going to Berkeley next year, I just applied for housing and all of my options are units 1,2 or 3. I was just wondering if people generally bike there to campus(since all the units are couple blocks away) or walking will do. And what is the average time it takes you to get to your class? Thanks a lot :) can't wait to finally move out from my parents house and live in dorms!!

Walking should work fine. The Berkeley campus is hilly so biking may not be the best option. Bike theft is pretty rampant so get a Kryptonite lock if you do bring your bike (and lock all removable parts). Try not to schedule classes back-to-back all across the campus. The 10-minute break between classes should be sufficient for getting across half of the campus.

Walking should be fine, but I love having my bike with me. From Units 1 and 2, it should take about 10-15 minutes, depending on your walking speed, to get from the dorms to campus. From Unit 3, it should take about 5 minutes.

If you schedule back to back classes (like the previous poster said), and the classes are relatively far apart, then you’ll probably want your bike with you as you only have 10 minutes to get from one building to the next.

All the units have bike lock facilities, so if you do bring it, and not end up using it, it’s not that big of a deal.
