I need a bike for getting around campus and around Downtown Berkeley. Any pointers?

It’s probably easier to walk, unless you’re going a significant distance. If only nearby, when you take into account the time to lock and unlock bikes, there isn’t much time savings at all.

I’ve already decided that I would like a bike…I’m not trying to decide whether or not it’s a good investment.

I will be traveling significant distances. I’m living off-campus next year, and my apartment is a good 30 minute walk from Southside, where I work. I also have to take BART into SF fairly regularly, so I’ll need a bike to get around the city.

Go to Craigslist, see what’s available, Google for reviews, and voila!

I was looking for some, you know, specific recommendations. But hey thanks! :P

Don’t spend over $200 unless you want your heart broken.

yeah you probably want a cheaper bike in case, but I think if you are smart with your bike, you should be fine.

You might want to get some bike with gears…tho single speeds are fashionable.

Yeah if you’re SMART with your bike, he’s right, you’ll be fine.

I swear to god…read articles online if you really want to keep you bike safe and you will be better off. Don’t be too full of yourself because there’s a lot of things you wouldn’t know…unless maybe you’ve been riding for years but still this could help.
