Bike?

I want to get around campus on a pogo stick...
You know what, I've ALWAYS wanted a pogo stick and I never got one. Boo :(

I've always wanted a pogo stick, too. It'd suck because I'd probably break my face the first time I got on it, but it'd be worth it :)

I tried pogoing once, ending with disasterous effects involving bleeding appendages. I have the battle scars to prove it.

I'm going to try to learn how to ride a bike in two weeks, wish me luck!

GOOD LUCK ABOUT THE BIKE. I HOPE YOU HAVE BETTER LUCK THAN I DID WHEN I LEARNED HOW TO RIDE A TWO-WHEELER. That involved crashing into a tree and bouncing off it, nearly running over my mailbox, 20 band-aids, and many long days.

I want to learn how to pogo! I was learning how to skateboard, but then I almost rode the skateboard off the patio where I was learning how to skateboard...

Skateboarding was a nightmare when I first tried it. One of my older cousins is like this skateboarding god or something, so I decided I wanted to be good like him. Yeah, I thought I could try stuff the first time, ended up running stait into the open drainage part of a curb, and was bruised and psychologically battered for a looooong time...So much for that ;)

Good luck with biking, sade!

Don't Try Biking! Resist! Bikes Are Evil!

qtip, that's not going to scare justsade, nuh uh...

I bought a skateboard bc you know how it looks so much easier than it is...I never learned :(

I have to agree with you.

qtip your experience is surprisingly similar to mine.

And thank God I'm in Wilson :)

Hahaha...I think I might see how it goes the first two months, and if I need a bike, I can just bring one after fall break.

haha i have a pogo stick. i can go about like 15 meters before i fall down

Omg shrekie can you bring it?! lol (no, i'm actually quite serious. Let me borrow your pogo stick and I'll love you forever...or at least enough to bake you some cupcakes :) )

I thought I didn't need a bike when I arrived on campus, but decided to get one freshman spring. And in fact, life had been fine without a bike, but after getting one I noticed that I was more willing to go places and do things because it was so much more convenient. At this point, I can't imagine not having a bike, I love my bike, and I ride it everywhere. Even in snow.

As for bikes getting stolen, I know a lot of people who've lost theirs. However, mine's survived quite happily, and I think it's because there's something to the U-shaped lock... apparently chains are easier to break.

I know a couple of people with motorized scooters, too, but usually for medical reasons (knee problems). On that note, golf carts are available (but pricey) if you ever happen to break a leg, and not in the theatrical sense.

Seriously, the campus is small enough that you can walk it. Its beautiful, so enjoy it! Don't speed through on a bike.

I've got a bike
You can ride it if you like
It's got a basket
A bell that rings
And things to make it look good
I'd give it to you if I could
But I borrowed it.

LOL maybe I should buy a bike after all :p

I think I'll get a bike. I've never been without one and I will feel odd. princeton123 makes an excellent point but some days you'll have to get somewhere really fast, or have an errand to run outside of the campus.

Yeah, there are definitely things you miss on the bike... inscriptions, gargoyles, etc. My favorite's the inscription on McCosh: "Here we were taught by men and gothic towers democracy and faith and love of unseen things that do not die." A little ironic considering that I've been taught by men and '60s brick, equations and formulas and understanding of tangible things that break all the freaking time.

I love walking the campus, but I prefer to make a conscious decision to do so for fun... if it's merely transportation I require, I'll take the bike.
