On Connect Carolina, it shows me an "amount due" value, and an "anticipated financial aid" value. Has the "financial aid" value already been deducted from the "amount due" value, or do I pay the full value first, and then get a refund later?

Also, where do I go on Connect Carolina to get a detailed account of what I'm paying for. I remember Student Central gave you a clear list of all your recent transactions and how much you had to pay for each item on your bill.

I haven’t looked at the bill page as my son is in charge of keeping track of the bill. I know he is waiting for a scholarship to be posted and was able to defer payment until they post the scholarship and deduct the amount. He said there was a place to click and defer. I had asked at Ctops what we should do and they told me to defer until the scholarship is posted.

My understanding is that you should (1) request a deferment and (2) pay the amount due, less anticipated financial aid, before the original deadline. So no, the anticipated aid has not already been deducted.

Frankly the whole process isn’t particularly intuitive or well explained and has room for improvement.

Look for a tab saying Activity to find a detailed list of what you’ll be paying for (old debts, fees for crap you’ll never use, etc)

Oh, and the financial aid/scholarships definitely hasn’t been deducted yet. They do that during the first week or so of school I believe. You can just defer, let the finaid factor in, then make sure it’s all paid by Oct. 12 (I think that’s the date if you get the deferment).

This is what I was told to do and I have two kids at Carolina this year. Let say you owe $5,000 and you know you are getting $2,000 in aid, then you should go ahead and pay the $3,000 now.
