I am torn between the two best SUNY colleges, SUNY Binghamton and SUNY Geneseo.

I plan on going in undecided to the liberal arts college of each school and will probably end up doing something with science.

Feel free to list the pros and cons of each in comparison with each other.

I was wondering the same, but for Political Science. I'm leaning towards Bing right now though.

Geneseo wins it for me.

I would have to say Geneseo because it is smaller, so you can receive a more individualized environment.

I was faced with a similar decision a few years back. Academically, they both are great schools. From my experience the students at Geneseo are just happier. Both schools are challenging with bright students but there is just something about the charm of Geneseo that just can't be compared. First of all it is one of the most attractive campuses in the SUNY system. Students are proud to be there. Most of us had a choice between an expensive private, even ivy, or Geneseo. Yes cost played a major part in that decision but I have no regrets. In the world of academia Geneseo is very well respected. Over 40% of grads go on to graduate school which I did as well. Go to Geneseo!

Hey, Geneseograd, i've also been accepted to both binghamton and geneseo and still yet looking to choose between these 2 prestigious school ,however i'm more leaning towards Geneseo at the moment. My question is, i'm going to be a future business major, specifically, accounting, how's the business school/program at Geneseo?

I was a dual major Business and Communication(Public Relations). The business program is one of the best! I did not go on for the MBA but a masters in healthcare administration and professionaly I am doing really well. I always look for Geneseo students as possible interns because I know they are bright and hard-working. Geneseo will challenge you. It is the personal attention that you get at Geneseo..you will know your professors and they will know you by your first name.

Federal Reserve Challenge = Geneseo continues to do really well in the Federal Reserve Challenge. I believe it was in 2007 Geneseo placed second just behind Harvard.

The Harvard Fed Challenge Team beat out the SUNY Geneseo team, who came in second, and the three-time returning champions from Northwestern University, who finished third.

The Harvard team—who won the competition by arguing for their decision to hold the Federal Funds rate constant—was awarded a $25,000 prize from the Moody’s Foundation.

That's great !
Also what i've heard from a few people was that it is conditionally hard for business students at Geneseo to get job internships, or be involved job fairs because simply the big firms don't bother going all the way upstate to look for people when they can at NYU and baruch and such. Is this true? That is what i worry the most actually; having job opportunities during college.

Thanks again.

I am not sure to be honest it has been a few years since I attended. But I know when I was in Geneseo I did not have a problem getting an internship but my focus was more on hospital administration rather than a big accounting firm.

Maybe contact the Business school directly. Do you plan on attending graduate school after Geneseo?

Well, as i'm still in the high school mentality, i'm not to sure to tell yet; but after research and research i was thinking of taking a year gap between my bachealors and Graduate school for some extra internships and business experiences? Do you think that's a good idea? And of course i should contact the business school directly about job fairs hah.

A year gap isn't a bad idea that is what many people do with the hope that a company will pay for the MBA. I am not sure these days if companies will do that anymore. I graduated and went directly into grad school. I just wanted to get it over!

have you visited them? i really think that will probably help you decide because everything about them is very different -- surrounding location, size of campus, number of students. go visit - hang out in a dining hall and try to talk with students -- i bet your decision will end up being clear based on your preference for which feels more comfortable.

Geneseograd- I love Geneseo but I was only offered admittance in the spring and not fall. Do you think it would be worth it to attend a community college and then start up my career at the SEO in the spring?

yes, geneseo I feel is better than Bing

Sean256: Save some money and go to your local community college and then transfer the course over to Geneseo.

Thanks for your inputs guys, greatly apprecate it.
iamhere- i havent visited them both yet however, i made tour schedule already setted to april 13th-14th so while i go up to geneseo, ill have the chance to stop by binghamton as well. My main issue here isnt if the campus isnt pretty or not, actually i dont really mind, i put academics as priority so my major is the main concern. If i was directly put into the school of management at Bing, then i would have more array of decisions ,unfortuntely i was put under their liberal arts school, so i am very hestitant as of now. :(

Thanks for your input guys, but I am more interested in WHY you pick whichever school you like better, please explain your reasoning why you like that school over the other

blazin-- i wasn't talking about whether the campuses are "pretty." the environments are simply completely different. i'm glad you are planning to visit -- i think you will see what i mean once you see the schools and their surrounding areas.

Geneseo has a much better reputation- people say Bing does as well, but that's because they've been suckered by the countless number of bing spam inundated with self-procaliamed-and occasionally outdated-accolades.
