Hi, my son has almost identical stats as your daughter and he has also been accepted to Pitt and another SUNY but has heard nothing from Binghamton yet. He is nervous and went so far as to retake SAT on December 7 to improve his chances in the event Binghamton defers him to regular decision.
Good luck to all and I hope more decisions are made before the holidays!
@Countrystrong11
we did not apply ED either. accepted to UPitt too.
ED day differs school by school but heard Cornel (where most Bing students would have also applied) is tomorrow - so very short wait:)
My only explanation to this: they must have a double-cutoff for early notifications. Possibly SATs above 1500 and unweighted GPAs above A (would be around 95, I guess) would make the cut, the rest would be notified later. My son is nowhere close to meeting such a stringent double-cutoff requirement (unweighted B, SAT 1590), in-state, so I am thinking that could be the reason why we have not heard back.
They do seem to do the out of state applicants first - but other than that, Iām not sure there is any real order to it.
My oldest son applied EA last year and was notified in January (accepted)
My second son applied EA this year (fantastic applicant all around and meets both GPA and test score criteria posted above - along with great ECs, 12 season varsity athlete, etc) and has not heard anything yet.
Some of his classmates with lower GPAs and scores have already heard back. Make of that what you will, but Iām thinking they are just reviewing for applicants they think would 1) do well at Bing and 2) actually GO to Bing.
If you have not heard back yet, donāt read too much into it. We wrote in early January last year, inquiring about the status of my oldest sonās application. The counselor wrote back that his application was āwith the committeeā and we would be hearing back soon. A few days later, he was accepted. (He now goes there and he LOVES it!)
I know. I have come up with this cutoff to accommodate the existing data points (including yours and mine). But, some exceptions popped up already. Which means: this criterion should be taken with a HUGE spoon of salt!
On my application status portal, the page ends right after my check list. It used to, up until yesterday, extend down further and allow me to enter more information. Does this mean anything?
Same here. My D24 portal ends after the checklist. It used to have other information now its basically two sections Application Information and Application Checklist and nothing more! Does this mean what I think it means??? OH Boy I hope so because if it does then there is going to be a celebration tonight! Anyone else have the same cutoff??? This could be a good harbinger!!!
I checked my portal (already heard back from Bing because OOS) to see if there was anything below the checklist and there wasnāt! So this could really mean something. Good luck!
My assumption is once thatās gone that means they put your decision in the system. I mean why else would they take away your option to self report unless a decision was already made?
If thereās another wave of decisions tonight which seems likely theyāll release in about 5-10 minutes. Good luck to all still waiting to hear back from Bing!
Sheās In, accepted into Harpur!!! In-State, 1430 SAT, 99.58 GPA, 4 APs, some ECs. We are over the moon! That cutoff on the portal was definitely a sign that a decision was made. Good luck to everyone else!!!
