1450 SAT
97.7 Weighted GPA
Decent extracurriculars
Does anyone know the odds of getting in after getting deferred?
What’s the deal with picking housing and who gets priority pickings?
I actually really appreciate it when accepted students post their stats since my daughter is still waiting to hear if she is accepted or not. Please do not discourage this! I thank all those who are kind enough to share this info. Also helpful to know when people are being notified.
Deferred to RD, still waiting. No change in portal as of now. Haven’t been hearing of any big waves lately. Hope to hear soon.
I applied RD right towards the deadline but had all my information in the portal the day after, still waiting
Son got accepted!
Applied: 02/05/2020 (missed RD deadline)
Accepted: 03/05/2020
OOS
GPA 3.65 /WGPA 4.0
Class rank: Top 25%
SAT 1370 (Math 670, EBRW 700)

Congrats!!! Wonderful news!

Do kids who commit and put down a deposit have a housing advantage over kids who will put a deposit down may 1? Also, what if you commit may 1 but dont have a roommate?
@silverpurple I can speak for how it was a few years ago. The order in which you can select your housing is based on when you put down your deposit. If I recall correctly, Freshman housing selection was not until somewhere around June. If you don’t have a roommate, you can always go random.
Disappointed that my D didn’t get any merit scholarship from Binghamton. Her SAT is 1440 only but GPA 98.5, top 4% of her class. Full IB student with 2 leadership positions for 4 years at school. Lots of extracurricular activities and volunteering. Still a very busy senior.
Although she got in Honor program and first year research immersion.
Could you share status if you get merit scholarship? (Not need base) Thanks!
@Peimom Merit scholarships at Bing are very rare because it is a state school. A lot of merit scholarships end up going to OOS Kids because Bing would still end up getting a lot of money from the OOS student.
@silverpurple As of last year (my D is Bing class of 2023), there is no advantage to placing an early housing deposit. All committed freshman have essentially the same odds for housing (except for Scholars who could opt to automatically live in the Scholars Dorm)
My daughter is accepted in the “Source.” We havent heard anything about Scholars. Has anyone been named a scholar yet?
Can a current student at Binghamton tell me how difficult it is to transfer from Harper to SOM? My son was accepted to Harper for Fall 2020. He would like to transfer to SOM. I know that the criteria is on the Binghamton website, but is it really difficult to transfer within Binghamton? This could be a deciding factor for my son. What else is the school looking to see besides grades?
has bing sent out decisions recently?
The area to update SAT scores was removed from my son’s portal this afternoon. I think that’s an indication a decision will be posted soon. Good luck to all those still waiting!
Good luck!! Let us know. No changes here yet:(
