Binghamton EA deferred

I was deferred from Binghamton EA and I was wondering what my chances are of being admitted regularly. I thought my stats were good enough to have gotten me admitted regularly.

SAT 1270 (710M)(560V)

GPA 89.9 Unweighted
92.3 Weighted

4 years Football
3 years Track (3x All conference) (Captain)
4 years Lacrosse (Captain)

Italian Club
Elite Students of America
Good Work Experience

In or out of state?

I'm surprised, really. With you being an athlete and all. I think B-hamton's avergage is about 90 point-something or other. It would've been good if somehow they'd only seen your weighted GPA. Retake your SATs and try to hit 1300. Then I'd say you have an okay chance.

I am in state

Well, i got accepted RD with 1470 sats and 95.6 weighted gpa, so i'd say your best bet is to raise your sat if you can, though im not sure you have any time to do so.

yeah it sucks... i also got deferred EA from bing and i also thought that i had a decent chance...

My stats were:

3.3 gpa (yet again my school has a weird way of grading... like a 94 is a 3.5) so when i re calculated my gpa in which the 3.5 (90-94) became 4.0, and when I took out like art and stuff, my gpa became a 3.6

1240 sat (600v 640 m)

ec: Girl scouts 10 years: Girl scout gold award recipiant (national award, and a great college essay)
vp jr year prez senior year of the intercultural club. We help people around the world and and people in the intercultural club right at home.
varisity swim 2 years jv soccer 3 years varisity soccer 1 year

great letter of recs...

in state....

still i got deferred... which is better then a rejection I gather... (a girl in my math class got rejected... and i felt so bad.. she was all like... well i didn't even really want to go there... ven though like everyone has seen her with the bing gear on...)

oh well... perhaps rd i'll get accecpted if not lol... they will be hearing from me like everyday lol...

well I also heard they they had a record number of EA applications so they had to be very selective and in that case I am hoping that the applications deferred to regular decision will be less competitive. But I think that your stats deserve to have you accepted DoubleLayer.

thanks me hope to too!!!!! :)

I heard that binghamton deffered everyone who had under a 1250 for early action. This might be just a rumor but that is the word going around the guidance office in my school and its true for everyone who applied in my school too.

I'm surpised you didn't get in. I was accepted EA with an 86 or 87 unweighted average. My SAT was 650 M, 670 V. My ECs were OK, not great. No better than yours. I took several AP and IB classes at my school and did relatively well. Hope you get in the next round. I'm sure you will.

wow I am very suprised. Many people with 980's and 2.0 GPA got in Regular last year

actually I just remembered that my friends best friend got into Binghamton EA this year. My friend claims that her stats were:

4.2 gpa out of 4.5 and 1110 SAT ( 550/560)

so your 1250 gpa theory seems false... sorry....

actually.. i got deferred from binghamton EA too and i had a 1320 (660 M/ 660 V) , in-state, asian, with a 90ish GPA unweighted, taking 4 ap's this year, 5 in total. As of this year, i've got about a 95 unweighted gpa with all the classes so thats a nice improvement. EC's were lacking a bit but yeah, i was a little surprised too. Banking on myself getting in RD, but not all too sure about the chances, especially considering I didn't expect to get deferred anyways. Anyone have an idea on my chances?

wait..is bing that difficult?..confused..

Bing is getting much more difficult go get into...can anyone state their stats and state whether they were accepted, deferred or rejected....

well you can look above for mine... umm.... my best friends older brother (he is a frosh now at bing) this is his stats:

2.7 GPA... had a hard time freshman year, had like a 1.7 gpa or something like that (at our school the grading scale is like: 4.0 (95-100) 3.5 (90-94) 3.0 (85-89) 2.5 (80-84) 2.0 (75-79) etc... ) So he entered into the LIFE school (an alternative program at our school) in his jr & snr year. LIFE program different like they do internships, small classes, and have double block periods (meaning half the year they do math & science, half the year they do s.s & english)

SAT: something in the mid/ high 1300 range... i want to say like 1360....

great ec... worked as a volenteer ambulance person since the time one could start (16).

great letter of recs

in state

I'm not sure if he applied EA (if he did then he didn't get it) Got in rd, after we was weightlisted... lol but like everyday he called the school and then he got in!!! :)

does anyone know how long it will take Binghamton to let you know once they receieve your 1st semester grades?

i got into Binghamton EA, instate. i wont be able to go there though, cuz i also got into UPenn ED.

1480 SAT
800, 780, 780 SAT II's
94 unweighted GPA
9 AP classes

ECs:
-4 years on varsity crew team
-model UN, several awards
-Youth and Governement, President, state wide awards
-Interact Club, Treasurer
-National Honor Society, Vice President

I am sorrry to hear that. Let me just tell you, I hope you get in, however I got in (as an early action applicant) and I got a 1160, with a 3.6 GPA (equivalent to either a 94 or 95), so all I have to say is, hope you get in and maybe I'll see you in the fall.

Hey just curious, but I figured Binghamton would've taken me EA but anyone have any ideas as to why I didn't get chosen? I mean i thought i had decent stats and all.. and my gpa is alright. EC's were a little weak, but other than that.. I have no clue lol
