As expected. It’s a bit disappointing but hey I guess we have 2 chances for a reason. How does being an EA applicant play a role in decisions for RD, can anyone get the stats for it. Also what are you plans for now?

So we can’t even send midyear reports?

jbryant624 - as far as I can tell, there is no advantage/disadvantage to being in RD after applying for EA.

I think all of you should still have a good chance of getting in. The problem with early action (at least based on what my guidance counselor told me) is that all the really really smart people and overachievers sign up. This means that the EA pool is more competitive than the RD one, so chin up everyone. You’re not done yet! :)

Wait so RD is rolling admissions and the latest we’ll hear back is April?

SAT: 1750(1160)

Essay was amazing
Great Recs.

There should be no doubt that we should be getting in RD from what I’m reading.

@jbryant624 what have you been reading? Is the regular admission pool actually significantly less competitive than early action?

Just in comparison to last year. There has been speculation that the EA does give you an edge - as it shows interest. Scores are still weak; and my average won’t really increase much, so I’m pretty much static as of now. Just have to wait a different time. (Hoping to confirm this with admissions office)

In addition, I believe that EA is more numbers based.
Good SAT/ACT + Good GPA = Admittance
-EA is competitive, so only the numbers really matter.

In my opinion, as far as RD, this is where SAT/ACTs and GPAs are closer, and Essays will have some more relevance. This leaves room for different combinations:

-Good SAT/ACT, OK GPA, Great Essay = Admittance
-OK SAT/ACT, Great GPA, Great Essay = Admittance
-etc.

This is my theory, in no way is it to base your decisions on. It just makes the most sense that in a stronger applicant pool, numbers truly matter. In a regular applicant pool (not saying it’s not strong; a few of my friends with STRONG scores applied RD - just because they didn’t take the initiative enough to apply EA) it would make more sense to view the test holistically.

Any opinions on this feel free, I think it makes sense - it’s just a theory.

SAT: 1200/1920

I am currently enrolled in 6 APs and I took 3 last year APUSH (5) Physics B (3) English Lang (3)…I did not put down any 3’s on my application.
-I also had great recs
To be honest I was quite surprised I got differed based on students currently enrolled for the Class of 2017. Also, other students in my school got in that were just as qualified as I was. I find it hard to believe I got into Fordham Early but not Binghamton, but then again SUNYs have gotten very competitive due to their relatively affordable price as compared to private colleges.
