The enrollment deadline is approaching, and I still cannot make up my mind between Binghamton University and the University of Delaware. I have been researching both these schools and still cannot choose which one to go with.
For Delaware I received a $10,500/yr scholarship and entrance into the Honors Progam. I am planning to hopefully become a doctor, or maybe even a veterinarian. One thing I am on the fence with, for example, is which would give me a better shot at making it into Medical school: graduation from Binghamton or from Delaware's Honor Program?
If anyone can give me any kind of input regarding the pros and cons of each school, that would be great, and I'd really appreciate it.

have you visited both schools? I"m sure admissions can give you their stats for med school placement.

Are you instate for either school?

That’s a tough one. Is the cost comparable? I would probably pick Delaware if it is, because it is more of a traditional university and has more diversity and people from different places than Binghamton.

I’m a NY resident. Binghamton will be around $18,000 and Delaware (w/ the scholarship) will be around $25,000.
From what I have read, Binghamton has one of the highest graduate success rates in the country (~90%).
I visited Binghamton a couple weeks ago, and I am visiting Delaware in a couple of days. When I visited Binghamton, however, I did notice (and I do not mean to offend anyone) that the high majority of students I saw were “nerdy.” I am really not that type, and have been wondering if that will actually lower the enjoyment of my experience if I go there. But I do not know if going to Delaware because of this reason would be worth the extra $7,000.

That latter point is not in any way my main focus nor will it be a major deciding factor, but it is just one more thing I have been thinking about.
Thanks a lot for the input, I really appreciate it.

Hey i visited Binghamton last week, and by far i didnt see nerdy people lol. Binghamton is a place with much pride, and a school that can provide you a healthy and fun social life. I thought the residance halls were good, and the vibe on campus was relaxing, and fun.Since i went on a saturday many kids we’re talking about parties, social events, and things they were planing to do which seem interesting. I personally believe Binghamton is a place that has different type of people, and you can find whatever your looking for on campus. You should visit the schools, and see which one you’ll know you be able to achieve great things at with also a fun social life. hope i was able to help!

My son is in the exact same situation

Same 2 schools Bing vs Udel

Udel offering Honors + Scholarship

Bing- has not sent Honors invites or FA package yet (but we are not hopeful that will change anything) but Bing is in state for us also

Udel scholarship brings the cost to about $1000 difference per year

He is undecided right now- bio-chem-or-engineering

Graduate school will be in his future

We visited both already and are taking a second look at both but no winner decision yet???

Still no decision yet but thanks for the help. Hopefully my visit to Delaware will help my decide a little bit easier, but as of now I am still down the middle.
