I absolutely agree with susgeek about the “new ivies” thing. RPI, as I told earlier, is better one in terms of academics and has a lot more prestige than WPI. But, the official data shows that WPI is ranked 9th amongst all the colleges of nation in terms of ROI. :)

BTW, where is the ROI data?

Never mind, I see it on Payscale.com. A nice indicator but hardly apples to apples. I don’t need $125K to do well in Alabama but that’ll barely keep me going at many locales on the east coast. Not sure if they control for degrees (expect more business/pre-med/pre-law to have higher lifetime pay than an education major for example). Like most stats, wouldn’t base any decisions on it.

Thank you everyone for helping me out. Hopefully I am able to get into RPI, if not WPI seems to still be a great option.

RPI is more selective than WPI, but that doesn’t make it a better choice for everyone.
If you might end up switching majors from engineering to business or science, RPI is a better choice.
Engineering and science are very tough majors, so I think you want to go to the school where you are in the middle or higher end of the applicant pool. Both schools work hard to have a high freshman retention rate, and that is a very important factor.
