I got accepted to Binghamton. What do you think about this college.

Generally most people think the education is top notch but the social life can leave much to be desired.

Good rep in NY, but not so well-known out of state.

Did you apply early action/early decision? If so, does anyone know when the RD people find out and also when we find out about the Scholars Program or whatever they call it?

i was accepted to binghamton also. i found out 2 weeks after they had all my stuff.

i did not apply for early decision. i am not sure if i applied for early action to Binghamton but most likely yes

I applied in mid october (non early action) and found out around Christmas. It's considered the best public school in the SUNY system and one of the best public schools in the Northeast for the price of tuition.

What were your stats? For those of you who got in.

Here are some chances threads with stats, but more stats would be appreciated.

my gpa is 3.4/4.0 scale and my SATs were a 1260, m:640/v:620/w:580.
most of my classes have been advanced or honors and i am currently enrolled in 2 AP courses.

i have put in over 1,000 hours of community service by working at a summer camp and also have an aditional 75 hours from teaching catechism. i have been a member of the the writing club and newspaper, photography editor for both. i'm a member of model un, debate club, students for enviornmental action, playbill club, musicals, and plays.

I got into bing too. Sent in all my stuff around new years and found out today. Bing is rolling decision, so you get ur decision based on how early you sent in ur stuff. From what Ive heard, Bing is a good school. One of the best SUNYs and a "public ivy".
My stats: 3.8 GPA, 2000 SAT

Did you find out by mail, email, or at binghamton.edu ? I sent mine in at the end of December and still haven't heard anything.

My stats are 99 GPA and 2280 SAT and I'm a National Merit Semifinalist (and will hopefully be a finalist).

metsfan, you are definately ivy material.

bing. has a pretty good reputation inside of new york. The above average students who were very smart but not quite ivy material looked at and often chose bing (and sometimes geneseo).

though, i hate when they call it a "public ivy." there's a dozen other public schools that are much better than binghamton, yet nobody calls them public ivy's (mich, uva, W&M, Berkeley, UCLA, etc.). It's just advertising in my opinion...

Thanks for the compliment, lil_killer129. I am applying to three ivies(Yale, Columbia and Dartmouth), and hopefully will get in, but if not, well, I guess Binghamton is a pretty good safety.

Is there much of a difference between Bing and UMD? I will be applying to both of these schools next year, but if I get into both, I'm not sure which I'd choose...

UMD for the hot girls!! lol and UMD is ranked higher.

dgo123, thats good to know. I was hoping for that too!

Check out the Bignhamtom thread. It provides many opinions regarding the school, SUNY reputation, student happiness, academic strengths, etc....

I've been there several times, but no one talks on there.
