Yeah, I know this is the Yale Board. But I figured some of you from New York are applying to SUNY Binghamton, and the the Binghamton board isn't too busy.

For those of you who are applying, when did you send in your application, and when did you hear back from them? I sent mine on December 30. Three weeks ago, I got a postcard saying that the decision would come as soon as possible. Next week, I got an e-mail saying that because there were so many applicants that they can't make the decision until march or april. I know that others who send their apps in late December already got their acceptances. I haven't. I don't know why. Does anyone know what's up w/ that? Or if they're reluctant to accept me because they think Binghamton's a safety for me?

I sent my app in sometime in Nov/Dec and have gotten my "materials recieved" post card and the "we're working as fast as we can" letter but have yet to hear anything else. i feel the same way, that maybe they are reluctant to accept people who are applying as safties.

i just got a letter in the mail inviting me to come to a basketball game at Binghamton v Boston, and at the bottom it says "I Congratulate you on you acceptance to Binghamton University!"
but i never got anything from them in terms of an acceptance letter.
im going to check their website and whatnot

One of my children attended Binghamton. The dorms are fine. The area where the kids live in apartments is awful. He lived in a house with bats flying around. He ended up renting a private house in the area where the faculty lives and that was fine. You cannot imagine the deterioration of the off campus area where the school is; I do not understand how they pass inspection. It is an absolute shame. If you have children attending Binghamton, I suggest you check out the off campus housing before they rent an apartment. It was absoulutely deplorable. This is going back 8 yrs, so maybe things have changed, but I doubt it.

I'm transferring out of Trinity College in Hartford Ct. to Binghamton in the fall, and however depressing Binghamton may be, it could be a lot worse, at least its a safe city with some things to do. Hartford, is not only depressing, its downright dangerous (7th most dangerous in the country) no one leaves campus, definatly not at night, at least no one has come back to tell about it.

They probably just haven't read your application yet. I highly doubt that they're not accepting you b/c it's your safety b/c bing is like my super-safety and I got accepted around 2 weeks ago. I sent in my application around Jan. 1st. Also, I got my decision literally 3-4 days after I got the postcard saying they received all of my materials. I never got an invitation to my basketball game :( (not that I would go but still...)
