Bio 202

I finally persevered and secured myself molecular bio. Now here comes the big question. How does one study for a biology class of this magnitude? Does one read the book and attend lectures? Do outlines help? What is the exam format? How difficult are they? Please comment those who have taken it.

Go to class, study the book (don't just read it). Memorize the things you need to memorize. Try to look at and understand the big picture as much as possible, since that makes it a lot easier to remember how the details fit in.

Just do whatever you need to do to acquire the information. If that's attending class and taking detailed notes, do it. If that's making outlines for every chapter, do it. If that's making a song about nucleic acids to the tune of the Battle Hymn of the Republic, do it. Whatever works.

Me, I only went to one lecture the whole semester, but I studied the book and the powerpoint slides and came in with a good understanding of the material, and I did well.

Exams were all multiple choice when I took it; I don't know if they'll be changing anything now that the lab is separate. The first exam is the easiest, so don't end up with a score on that one that you'll have to make up for later.
