Bio and Chem Concurrently?

I'm planning on the pre-med route and I'm hearing that saving math courses for junior or senior year is a good plan for the MCATs. Thus, I wanted to know if I could start the intro bio and intro chem sequence concurrently. The problem is that Bio 20A has pre-reqs of Chem 1A and 1B. But its not specific. I'm not sure if that means I have to have those courses completed or at least be enrolled concurrently. I have a good beginning grasp on both subjects from high school ap so I'm pretty sure I can handle it.

And also, since I passed the AP calc AB exam I don't have to take the math placement test, correct? Would that mean that I should be fine taking math 11A without taking the placement test?

Any other scheduling advice/tips/suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Oh and I'm in college 8. I'm still not sure if I have one core class or two...

You have to take chem 1a and 1b first then you can take biol20a the third quarter.

No you don’t have to take the math placement test, you can enroll in math11a.

And if you are in c8, you have only one core class. Stevenson is the only college that has two quarters of core courses.

I’m taking the premed route too and I got all my math classes over with. The only thing is that you might end up having to brush up on your math if you take it on your junior yr rather than taking it in continuation from high school. But it works both ways.

Thanks. That helps a lot.

So for grading options should I always prefer a letter grade? I don’t think it’d look very great to pick P/NP, even for GEs.
