Bio AP instead of Environmental Science AP

I am going to be a junior next year and I currently have Environmental Science AP on my schedule. I’m worried that taking ES makes me come off as a “slacker” because it’s considered one of the easiest AP’s, a lot of my friends are taking Bio/Chem AP AND an AP Physics course. I have a lot of other AP’s on my schedule(WHAP, Psych, Calc,Econ,English) so my schedule is pretty rigorous and I plan on being a business and marketing double major so I’m not sure how much taking a harder science will help me, especially since Bio will be much more difficult than ES which could really hurt my GPA. Is it worth it to take Bio instead of ES?

For a prospective business major, APES is fine. If your GC will mark your schedule as “most rigorous” on your Secondary School Report regardless of which AP science you take, you’re good to go.

thanks @skieurope , also I forgot to mention I really want to go to UC Berkeley or Northwestern if that makes a difference.

Nope. Makes no difference.

For a business major ES will be fine you may actually consider self-studying it and take another business class.

I am about to graduate and going to be a business major at Indiana University next year. I took APES this year and I think it was certainly better than Chem or Bio (I also took AP Physics 1 just because I took regular physics with the same teacher). I can get useful credit for it, so there was no reason to take a harder science. With your schedule, you will be fine sticking with APES. Also, AP Micro and Macro were my 2 favorite classes I took in high school, but a lot of it was having an awesome teacher.

If you’re planning to be a Business major, I see nothing wrong with taking Environmental Science. I feel like what you’re comfortable with would be best, but I don’t see the need for Biology. I wouldn’t recommend taking two sciences in one year just because of how much work goes into one science class.

APES is fine. I have known students that have taken APES instead of another AP science class go off to great schools (including Cornell). That’s what I did as well. Like skieurope said, it is all about whether your GC marks your schedule down as most rigorous

thanks to all of you for the insight; I’m going to keep APES.
