Bio/Chem/BioE schools to suggest?

Looking for initial list of schools for dd1 ('13) who is interested in everything bio+chem, maybe interested in bioengineering. Hasn't taken SATs yet but GPA (UW/W) 3.9/4.6 with mostly AP/honors classes. Attracted to a more serious studious student body - lack of party-reputation is a plus. She's been on the college road trip for older ds and really liked vibe of Columbia but not NYU. Prefer to be within 3 hrs drive of NJ - but would go to 6 hrs (north to Boston-west to Pitt-south to Virginia) Not sure of what size - doesn't seem to matter to her. Need to find either a possibility for merit aid or a school that will meet demonstrated fin need.

Any recommendations?

Hi Amanda - BU and Northeastern…both strong in what she is looking for and both give good merit. I met a girl last week that just graduated from NEU and was working within a week doing drug discovery…

If you would go to Pittsburgh, could you consider Case Western in Cleveland. Friend’s son is a bio-eng major there, very happy.

Thanks for the input - anyone else have opinions? BU - don’t think that would suit her, has same vibe as NYU but I will take a look at NEU, Case Western and Rochester.
