Bio Lab

This fall I will attend Stony Brook as an undergrad freshman. I have a guaranteed transfer to Cornell for fall of 2008. This year, I will take Molecular Bio, General Chemistry w/ Lab, Calculus, Writing, and a mandatory freshman seminar. The problem is that I did not get biology lab. This year was the first year that Stony Brook allowed freshmen to take biology in the fall term because usually, they took it in the spring term. This year, SBU also created 2 separated lab classes that were not linked with the two biology classes (molecular bio and Cellular and Organ Physiology). The lab classes are separate classes that need not be taken w/ both of the bio lecture classes. I can't take bio lab this term b/c I can't fit it into my schedule and the class is already full. I was hoping to take it second term but I don't think that the first bio lab will be offered then-- only the second. I need to take the first lab to take the second lab. Now if I choose to transfer to Cornell for fall of 2008, I will not have any bio lab classes. If I do take bio lab classes at Cornell to make-up for the ones that I was not given in SBU, will that look bad when I apply to medical school? Will I be at a disadvantage? Sorry for this long post. I thank you for your time and hope for some advice from the medical school gurus on this post. Thanks once again.

I'm not sure what's the issue here. Cornell has plenty of lecture/lab combo courses and lab-only courses that'll fulfill the bio lab requirement of medical schools. Why would you be at a disadvantage for taking bio lab at Cornell?

Ok so let me get this straight. If I were to transfer right and take the two bio classes at Stony Brook (by the way, Cornell has approved and chosen those classes and will accept credit for them), I could take just the labs for those classes at Cornell and med schools will not look unfavorably at me, right? I mean I would, in theory, have 1 yr. of bio plus (taken at SBU) 1 yr. of lab (taken at Cornell) overall. So I wouldn't be at a disadvantage in terms of med school admissions. I will take higher level bio courses at Cornell though.

WOW. Just take the class at SBU with labs. If your going to be taking upper level classes at Cornell then they are going to count as your pre- req anyway.

I can't take the class at SBU b/c it is full. I tried to but they are not giving it to me.
