Hello, I currently reside in Michigan looking to move to florida to major in Biology, with future plans to apply to medical school.
I applied to FIU in miami (i got accepted) and USF in tampa (application still under review). I was wondering which college between the two you would recommend for cheaper living costs and a better bio major program. I am not interested in “party life” or anything like that! PLEASE help!
Neither.
Are you a transfer?
Why biology (a major that currently had one of the lowest ROIs)?
Why Florida, when saving money is crucial for med school?

Yes i am a transfer student.
Biology is what i will be majoring in and than applying to medical school.
Also, i didnt say money is crucial for med school, i was just asking which school (area) has a cheaper living style, because i will be moving by myself.
Excellent biology, chemistry, etc + med school + better cost of living (relatively speaking - unless you live in a problematic area of Miami, it’s not a cheap city, nor the coastal towns nearby. Tampa isn’t cheap but better than Miami).
Do consider biochemistry or chemistry as a major.
My son went to UMiami. His bedroom in a 3 bedroom furnished rental was $900/mo in Coral Gables, but in a slightly sketchier area. I visit Tampa frequently. I’d look on Realtor.com for rentals to compare, but personally I think Tampa is safer and cleaner. Miami has better public transportation, if that is an issue.
I would highly recommend visiting both schools first. The differences between Miami and Tampa are significant. Miami has a higher cost of living and is more metropolitan. I think USF has a more traditional campus. More commuters at FIU. Not sure about the academics for biology. Overall, USF is a better school. Both are on the rise though.
