The difference between the 2 is the Math 2B scheduling

In schedule #1 my MWF goes like this:
10-10:50-> 1 hour 10 min break -> 12-12:50 -> 1 hour 10 min break -> 2-2:50 -> 40 mins -> 3:30-4:50

In schedule #2:
10-10:50 -> 10 mins -> 11-11:50 -> 10 mins -> 12-12:50 -> 2 hour 40 min break -> 3:30-4:50

Which schedule do you think is better?

Is lugging 3 books around an issue in schedule #2 since i would have to have to carry all 2 in my backpack for 3/4 of my day?

BONUS: Is bio sci 2a worth taking? the advisors pressured many in our group to take the 1 unit course. Any of you recommend it actually taking it?

You dont need to carry around all those heavy textbooks around campus. Your not in high school anymore buddy. What you just need is a pen and something to write on for notes. Also bring your laptop, if you like taking notes on it.

schedule 1 might be better to try to eat lunch with people, commons ends its actual lunch hour 2. so things towards the end start running out or stop being served, but with both times arriving at 1 should be good, it’s just schedule 1 you have the option to eat with people at 11 too
also, think about how your finals schedule would be affected by each

I also need help with my bio major schedule!
Since ALL writing 39B seminars are waitlisted… would it be okay to have these classes for the first quarter:
Bio Sci 93, Bio Sci 2A, Chem 1A, Math 2A

And then for the winter quarter take the writing 39B? writing 39D spring quarter?

^ That might be a bit too much for you, unless you’re super good at at least one of the subjects so that you can focus less on one of them. Or if you don’t mind having all science and math classes. I would add a general education class and that way you can drop one if you don’t think you can handle all math+science classes.

P.S. I think you mean writing 39C instead of D haha :)

^I dont see how that scheldule is a bit too much. Your on the right track, and im sure you’ll do well in math 2a since its mostly derivatives. What you might get worry is chem and bio 93, they are your utmost attention since those are core classes for bio majors.

Lets hope you do get to enroll writing 39b in the winter. your window enrollment will be based on total units you’ll have at the end of fall.

Well, it’s all subjective to each student, of course. They wanted opinions, and that was mine :)

I myself was terribly bad at general chem (loved ochem though!) and math was never my thing, especially if you get a bad professor. And even though I loved bio it required a lot of reading/study because I never paid attention in hs. Personally, having a G.E. mixed in there instead of taking math right away was the best choice for me back when I was a freshman.

After all, it’s just their fall quarter. Big adjustment time, and people are much more interested in hanging out with new friends. Unless you have good time management, you’re really not going to be able to stay up till 4am talking to your suitemates every night and still do well in all your science+math classes. I know a lot of people who tried that, and failed miserably…

But anyways, that was BEFORE the OP responded again, and apparently they’re very comfortable with math+science so it’s not a big deal. You should be fine :)

Oh and by G.E. I meant easy classes, like psych, etc. You need them to graduate anyways, so why not take it and make your first quarter of college easier? That was just my thinking.

Oh yeah, and while it’s best to get writing out of the way ASAP 'cause it gets full fast, don’t feel too bad if you can’t get in right away. Some people end up taking it in the spring and then 39C their sophomore year. Just think of it this way, if you don’t get into writing, you still have other classes you need to take anyway (like G.E.s and major classes)
