Bio Medical Engineering Major, classes in High School

Hello, im new to this forum, so dont be too harsh on me if this is a stupid question =D

Im a freshman in high school and these are my math a science classes this year:

Accelerated Geometry and Honor Bio.

My english, and history classes will be advanced, and evetually AP, throughout my high school career.

Now, this is my prospective class layout for math and science:

Summer before soph year, chem at community college

Sophmore year: Physics, Anatomy/Physiology
Algebra 2
Summer before Junior Year, Pre calc/ Trig at Community college

Junior Year: AP Physics, AP Bio
AP Calculus BC

Senior Year: AP Chem
AP Stats

Do u guys think this sounds about right? BTW, are there any other classes u recommend for my senior year, i have 2 periods open for that year which im not sure wat to do with.

I took both trig and algebra 2 in the same year, maybe your school does things differently.

I would suggest trying to double up sophomore year (on math), rather than taking it at a CC if at all possible.

Watch out junior year if you want to take two sciences - AP Bio is a very memorization heavy course. Also, would you be taking AP physics b or c? b covers more topics while c is calculus-based.

check out any electives that sound interesting for senior year. I know my school offers a principles of engineering class, biotech class and various other interesting classes.

Do you have multivariable calculus at your high school? If not, instead of AP Stat, I’d recommend Calc 3 at your community college, if your school has the sort of program that allows you to dual enroll. That should really help you in the future when you go to college, either for credit, or for being exposed to the material. Also I find Stat kind of useless if you’re not doing anything with finance or information systems, etc. Also you’d just be better served by taking Calc 3/Multivariable Calc.

Either way, as far as maths and sciences go, you’re pretty well set if you keep on this track.

Need to do science/math related research during summers.

Very few schools are going to have Calc 3 at their school. But if possible I would also say take Calc 3, Diffy Eq, and Linear Algebra at your community college during the summer between your junior and senior year, and during your senior year, if that’s possible. Any stats class you’ll need will be a Calc-based stats (which AP stats is not).

And beyond that, make sure your AP physics is Physics C, and unless they make you take regular Physics before that, don’t bother. If your AP Physics is Physics B then take it at a community college (calc-based physics) during your senior year, and take AP Chem earlier.

My school is so stupid, they wont let me take physics concurrently with alg II cause they think i wont be able to handle it and cause i need alg II skills for physics.

First off: The physics teacher teaches u all the formulas u need for physics, in class.

Second: Im insanely good at math, not bragging, but im probably in the top 3 of my freshman year, if not #1…also, i already know alg II basics from self teaching…

But hopefully, i can get them to change their minds…

BTW, how did u take trig and alg II concurrently bioblade? Isnt alg II a pre requisite for trig?
