BIO- official post discussion

Are we allowed to talk about the specific questions or do we have to wait for a little bit?

Overall, the difficulty was on par with what I was expecting. And.. plants are my friends =) What'd you all think? And how generous do you think the curves will be?

It was pretty easy in the beginning. I just hate the application/ experiment type questions, they take up so much time. Some of the questions later actually got much harder. I skipped like 6 questions. Is that really bad?

Yeah, I agree.. the beginning boosted my confidence but all the charts took a long time to read.. I left around 6 blank as well. Maybe if none of you other CCers took it today, the curve will be -really- generous =)

omg!!
i totally screwed up!! it was filled wif charts!!!! o man... i hope the curve would be lenient...

i left like 4 blanks and guessed on like 15 questions....

we can't discuss ANY questions?

I guess we could, you know, come up with codenames for each of the questions..

But, for all of you who have taken the exam before or would just happen to know- how many questions can one miss and still score above 750?

i took it 2004, skipped 7 and got like 1 wrong for 760

omitted 1, guessed on a few where I had narrowed it down to 2-3 answers

Hardest part of the test?
Writing the statement in cursive. I completely forgot about having to do that.

did Mendel say anything about Cross over?
and when a somatic cell has 24 chromosomes, how many chromosomes did this get from each parent?

no, mendel said nothing about cross over

12 from each parent.... somatic is a normal body cell... so just 2 haploid combining into a zygote like any other cell

ok i got the first one wrong, but the second right! on the bright side, i got one right...thanx

oh man, i wish i can remember more questions, then ill have a basic idea of what i got and cancel the score if i have too. OH, does any of you know a rough coverting chart of the exam? like the old SAT II biology conversion chart?

Boridi lol I completely agree! Writing in cursive is so tedious uggh

Overall I thought the test was okay. How many can you get wrong to still get an 800?

so i guess, im the only only who messed up! i missed like 4 questions and got like 9 wrong. i hated the charts too brbcya!

I was undecided about taking this exam, and just decided to take it last minute. And now I'm not so sure that was a good idea. The non-experiment questions were pretty easy, but the experiment questions killed. I had no clue what was going on in that bacteria one in M. (And that one about the IAA and plants sucked too, I didn't even do two questions from it because I was taking too much time.) I also left 6 blank, and guessed on a bunch of others. Does anyone know how many you can miss and still get a 700? If I can just get that I think I'll be happy.

When can we start discussing the questions and answers properly? Because I'm dying to know how badly I screwed up, so that I can decide whether I should retake in June or not.

I think we can already....anyone remember any? One of them I was unsure of was the ape/early human question. Does anyone know the answer? I think I put smaller upper jaw but I was unsure.

Wow, I did soooo badly on this test. Ugh, I'm lowering my standards to 750+, hopefully that will come true. I put brain cavity for that. Does anyone remember having sex-linkage as an answer for any of the genetic Qs?

Wow, there were some ****ing hard questions on that test. I'm still reeling from the sheer difficulty. I wound up omitting only one but that doesn't make me feel any better.
