Bio Research Positions

I am asking for a friend.

I wanted to know how I can find out what paid bio research positions are available? Do you have any suggestions on who/where I could contact to find out about job openings?

Look under "campus/health care job openings". It's updated every Wednesday AM. Research lab positions are labelled SRA (staff research associate). If your friend just graduated, he/she won't get more than Step 1 SRA 1 on the salary scale with full health benefits and 401K. Lab experience requirements will vary. Usually the PI (principal investigator) will want a minimum commitment of 2 years with a probationary trial period of 90 working days. Tell your friend to ask for a "career" instead of "casual" appointment if he/she is offered the job.

Best thing for your friend if he/she wants to work at a UCLA lab is go to human resources of the department and ask for the available job listing. That way he/she gets a leg up before it's posted on the webstie.
