Which books did you guys use for BIO sat II and how did you do on the June test? (or whenever you took the real test)

I used PR and.. i just had to cancel my score.
don't ever use PR for bio.. . argh

I used PR too... I thought it was ok.. We'll see when we get the scores though haha. Then again, I'm in AP Bio.. so I had already studied from Cliffs for the AP exam

i took it in 2005 and studied independently mainly from SAT II Bio for Dummies book. It was really great--funny (not as cheesy as princeton rev does theirs) in many places, and it gives you good info. i did pretty well considering how late i started studying-720-only 10 points lower than two of my friends who had $125/hour tutors and who i normally have the same grades as.
i really recommend that series. i know use it for every sat ii i take

i used the kaplan book
the book was boring, but it covers almost everything well, except the lab questions
there were A LOT of lab questions on the june test, and there were almost none covered on the kaplan book
i would recommend the kaplan book though, i think it's just this test that's really into the lab stuff

i used the barron's book, i liked it but 1/2 the material was never on the actual test but it was pretty easy to read and memorize

btw im a freshman in honors bio that doesnt really prepare you for the SAT and i thought the test was ok

barron's 2007. The test wasn't that bad.

I used Barron's 2002. It contained a LOT of unnecessary information, a lot of which was not only omitted on the actual tests, but was not included in Barron's own practice tests.

One thing about the SAT II is that the level of detail is much less demanding than the AP Biology exam. However, the SAT2 Bio spans over a much larger realm of knowledge (although the knowledge is very general.). Overall, I didn't find the test too hard, but I don't think I did very well mostly due to stupid mistakes and not feeling too well on that morning.

I used my excellent AP Bio knowledge and Sparknotes practice tests (the day before) for the May exam. 760.

Well, I prepped for the AP with Cliffs and PR, so that information was fairly fresh in my brain. I used the new PR to prep for the SAT II.

I used Barron's and it was so much stuff. But Biology is very very very broad.
I used it and got 790 on last year's June test.

i used kaplans 2005-2006. the organismal biology section is ridiculously long compared to the other sections of the book. i looked at other review books and they had many more sections. still, kaplans prepared me pretty well. however, i memorized a bunch of information that was never even mentioned on the test.

i also took a few practice tests from other books. the sparknotes prac test was actually pretty difficult. kaplans prac is harder too, so is barrons. however, the princeton review test was so much easier compared to those books. i guess PR will give you questions most similar to test question; but if you want to be challenged and maybe think that the test will be easy come test day, then take a harder practice test. hope this helps.

I used the PR book to take practice tests, but I had just studied for the AP test from the Barron's book so I didn't really need to study anymore. I thought the test was pretty easy.

My brother had a load of books to study from (PR, Kaplan, REA, Barron, MGH).. and he said that even though PR was the most understable book, the 2007 Barrons was superb material-wise. I didn't like Barrons when i took the test, but the new version looks really good.

I used Barron's 2002 as my only study source, since I haven't learned at all for my bio class, and I am pretty sure there were some questions in the June test that were not covered in Barron's. But if Barron's does not cover all of the stuff, then which book does?

I used Kaplan, Barrons, and PR because I had taken an outdated course, so I was basically studying bio all over again. In my opinion, Barrons and PR are the best to review from. I never liked Kaplan because their practice tests at some point, had questions that the Kaplan book never even covered.
Barron's has a lot of info, but if you know most of Barron's you are more likely to ace the test, but don't JUST use Barron's. I used PR with Barrons because PR covered important information that Barron's did not, and PR also covered some experiments. By the way, several exp. in PR were very similar to June's experiments. I'd reccomend you do both the E and M section in PR and Barrons. That was my mistake; I only did the M section, but if I would have done the E , I would have been more prepared to tackle the CORE experiment questions.
I thought the test was alright! I'll see when I get my scores.

I used PR and I think I did pretty well. I read through the book atleast 3 times before taking the SAT II

I took this May '05 as a sophomore sans the AP course, but--I basically just did the PR book the week before and many of the questions on the PR tests were very similar to the actual test; I ended up getting an 800.

So, I'd rec PR for the exams, but if you need lots of review then Barron's is a decent review book. I don't like Kaplan much, but that's my own preference. Hope you guys did well =D.
