Biochemistry Major- How Do I Get There?

Hello Peers,

I am a rising senior who is desperately looking for the right college for a double major in biochemistry and english literature. Sadly, I am coming from a weakened GPA (3.15-3.25) and a mediocre SAT score (1800- 600 in every section). My grades are coming up slowly (I do not yet have my junior second semester report card) and I plan on retaking the SATs a few more times as I am trying to break 2000. I want a respectable school where I can get a proper education but without paying 50,000 dollars a year, though I may qualify for financial aid. On top of these scores I have been taking heavy course loads but my AP scores do not arrive until the third week of July. I am hoping/expecting for at least three fours. I got a three in AP World History but that is not my planned major and I do not expect to get credit for that class no matter what.

What state are you from.

I am from Georgia, so I know Georgia Tech is an option but I live literally down the street and don’t know if that is the place for me to end up. I have been in contact with several British schools but in the US I am not really sure where to apply.

On collegeboard search for colleges with a BS in Biochemistry. Alot of colleges will offer the BS in BIO or Chem with only a concentration in Biochemistry. Try to look for a college that has a stand alone BS in Biochemistry.
