I want to do medicine after college (aka, Med School), but for my undergrad, I cannot decide whether Biochem or Biomed Engineering will be better/looked on better?

I know everyone says that pre-med is just a track with certain courses and that one can major in whatever they wish just as long as they meet the pre-med requirements, but would either look better? I know ~50% of people who major in Biological Sciences and apply to Med. School get into it, but would being an engineering major be bad...even if it's Biomedical?

Reason is, I'm interested in Medicine, but I'm also pretty good at math and think Biomedical will combine both my enjoyment in science and math.

Thats essentially the overall percentage for all applicants, and is not dependant on major. Actually, if you look at the stats, humanities majors have slightly higher acceptance percentages than the science majors. Like norcalguy said, just major in what you want.

I was in the EXACT SAME position as you and kinda still am. I'm a freshman college student and I haven't chosen my major yet. If you're sure about medicine do Biochem. It'll be easier for you and for your GPA and you won't have to stress about grades soo much. Plus you'll have time to do other stuff too. But if you're eh maybe do BME. It can give you a really really good back up in case things don't work out. Ultimately it's up to you.

You can check on Student Doctor Network for this question. I posted it a while ago.
