Biochemistry Student at UCSD interested in Masters of Computer Science!?

I have posted previously about myself, but I decided I was uncertain previously, and that this is the real situation for me currently.

I am currently at UCSD with a 3.0 overall GPA in biochemistry, biology. I have over 250 hours of volunteering and 1 year research at a protein lab on campus. I also was an abroad coordinator (one year term) for an organization called FIMRC (Foundation for International Medical Relief of Children). My last 90 quarter units accumulate to 3.511 GPA.

Currently, I have spend a couple years abroad to accumulate my interests. I found that computer science helps society immensely and is more of an interest of study for me. I took C++ and C language courses in Taiwan university and received A’s. I became fluent with Bubble Sort, Sequential Search, etc. I also took digital design and electric circuit lab, and learned the logics of circuit design and received A’s as well.

I participated in an electrical engineering speech competition for regionals with the topic of 3D-printing and placed first for my region (I will be competing at nationals in a week). I have recently started a research project on biometrics dealing with using blood vessels in the hand to identify and individual!

When I return to UCSD in Fall 2016, I wish to finish my degree (2 more quarters) and then pursue a master’s in computer science, because I wish to help the world.

With my current situation, I am looking to apply to in state universities such as CSU East Bay, CSU San Luis Obispo, and more in the following cycle. Is this a far stretch for me?

Any remarks are appreciated! Thank you.

You definitely have a chance. It all depends on how much programming experience they require for you to enter the program. You should look at their web pages and then contact the program director to see if it is feasible.
