Hi! I am applying early decision for fall 2012. Here are some of my stats
GPA: 3.86
SAT score: not sure, i havent gotten my score yet, but i most likely got around a 2100.
I’m most interested in knowing whether anyone knows if biochemistry is a really hard major to apply to, since you apply to Cal Poly by major. If anyone knows of some stats of people who were accepted for biochem, that would be really helpful as well. I know it can be hard to switch majors but i will do that if biochem turns out to be too difficult, i will just apply for microbio. literally anything you guys can help me with would be helpful!!
p.s. i’m out of state, which might help, but i really don’t want to count on it.

Here are the stats you are looking for and here is a good link.

Science & Mathematics GPA: 3.95; ACT: 29; SAT: 1292

[Prospective Students - Admissions - Cal Poly](<a href=“Cal Poly Admissions”>Cal Poly Admissions)

Good luck!

Found out about my SAT score:
Math: 730
CR: 740
Writing: 710 (although they dont take it, i put it down on the application anyway.)

With those stats and SAT scores you’ll do just fine. Good luck with ED!

I’m currently a freshman majoring in biochemistry at Cal Poly. I applied with a 29 on the ACT. I didn’t submit my SAT score of 1900. My UW GPA was a 3.81 and my weighted was a 3.98 (4.06 on their scale I think). Obviously I got in and I think you will too, especially with that strong of an SAT score. I’m also out of state and I know it didn’t hurt me but I doubt it helped me much either.

Early decision is key here as well. It shows commitment and that you have made up your mind. I guess I’ll probably be seeing you next year than.
