Biochemistry Vs. Molecular Biology

Hey guys, I realize that medical schools don't care what pre-med students major in. I was planning on a biochemistry major but many people tell me its a very difficult major. And i want to maximize my gpa in every possible way. The other option is a BS degree in biology with concentration in cell and molecular biology. Here are my questions:

1) Generally Will changing my major from biochem to BS in biology CMB save me anymore time or help me achieve a better gpa? (more time=more extracurriculars)

2) I realize that majoring in BS biology CMB will get me out of taking calc, but it will put me into stats, is that a beneficial trade-off?

3)Which of the two majors will better prepare me for med school?

Please reply. Answers or general tips about the pre-med track are much appreciated. Thanks!

I honestly think it’s just a matter of which one you LOVE. Because if you love your major, you’ll be willing to work hard so that your GPA will be higher. If you’re stuck in a major you hate because you think your GPA will be higher then… it most likely won’t work to your favor. Medical schools necessarily care what you majored in, as long as you excelled.

Both will prepare you, its up to your passion, as Perfectedxchaos says. Also stats is personally more interesting (calc is more abstract, stats is based on real world problems).
